Freezing Shakes

Sorry if this has been posted before - I did a search but didn't come up with anything really.

I have lots of natural organic yogurt (low fat) in the fridge - I went crazy when it was on special offer. I was thinking of mixing in berries and freezing it to make frozen yogurts.

But then I wondered could I mix up my flavoured whey with half water and half yogurt and then freeze it?? It would be like a frozen yogurt dessert but with the added protein. Does anyone have experience of how whey shakes react to be frozen??

i did that once, but with milk instead of yoghurt

tasted surprisingly good, there were a few clumps of ice in it, but tasted like ice cream

just make sure you take it out well before you eat it, took forever before it could be eaten

I think you would want to whisk it up well or put it in an icecream maker, or whisk while it is beginning to freeze. Otherwise it will be a solid block. I have made whey mousse with strawberry jelly, and it is nice. Some did freeze a little, I had it in a blender so it was airy.

Another idea is putting the yoghurt in icecube trays, or those bags. Then you have frozen yoghurt cubes ideal for making smoothies, as it chills them nicely. I also keep frozen yoghurt cubes for tandoori cooking.

Some commercial ice creams use whey powder in the ingredients.
