It's not too bad, fine looking motor.
But his claim of 44+ mpg and 50 if driven carefully seems a bit fancilful.
At least he calls it an M-tech and not a 330d M3.

Also, 3 litre diesel and 184bhp

That's such an old engine alright. The old 330d was a rocketship. Probably not as fast now as the current 320d

    M57D30 : 1999–2003

    184 PS (135 kW; 181 bhp)
    390 N·m (288 ft·lb)

ever so slighltly faster than a 320d

I didn't doubt the figure, just can't understand how a 3 litre is only producing 184bhp!

Well 2/3rds of 184 is 120 ish, which is bang on what an 1.9-2.0tdi would have from that era.

Exactly, remember that engine was in production in 1999, 13 years ago.

That was pretty decent output at that time for a diesel.

Anyone else got raised suspicions about the paintwork being wet when the ground is bone dry? Hiding bad paintwork perhaps....

Nope. Car was washed, then moved.

If you are going to go to the effort of washing the car, getting the wheels that clean and then moving it to take 9 good photos, don't you think you would at least dry it to make it nice and shiny?

leaving a car wet, hides all the marks on the body work. can make faded paint look better.

thats why you should try and see a car on a dry day to ensure the paint is in good condition

Very true but at least they washed it. It's lazy but not as lazy as ads with cars covered in filth.

Lads, be realistic, it's got 200,000 miles on kerry "motorways", it's not going to be mint, but if the seats/steering wheel condition are anything to go by, looks like it could be a very clean motor!

Look gorgeous too, ruined by the chrome thing over the numberplate!

Of course, you're not going to get perfection with 200k on it, was just pointing out the old wet car trick.

Ah yes, plenty of motorways in Kerry!

Ah yes and the blanked out reg, so you can't do a motorcheck and find the write off, outstanding finance, real mileage, etc...
I am willing to bet he'll meet you at a car par/ petrol station and give his name as John Smith.
Sending out the dodgy vibes before you've even rang the guy=stay well clear.

Did you read the ad? It clearly says: "will pass flying colours".

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,467 ✭✭✭h3000

    Is it?

I think €21k for a 2007 335d is actually quite good. Very clean looking car.

No NCT, no mention of mileage, I'm willing to bet no tax, can't make out reg plate, so can't do carcheck to see how often it's been written off/clocked/how much finance outstanding, wouldn't touch it with two bargepoles.
But at least he has a good reason to sell it. Maybe it's because it's a shed underneath...;)
Or, a lot of these cars are "advertised" only for the reason so other "enthusiasts" can get the number to organise "events".
I.e. other scrotes in souped up rice-cookers can meet up with you to do donuts and drag-racing on deserted country lanes at 3am.
It's also the reason that all these cars have a permanent "For Sale" sign in the rear window.
I call BS on that ad, he's not interested in selling.

I almost think it's good value. Car looks very clean and has a low mileage. Compared with that gobsh1te above looking for €7k for a celica with no NCT, I don't think this seller gets the dreamer of the year award...:)

Jaysus! would ya relax! Its worth maybe half that, IF it had nct, tax and general proof that the engine isn't going to fall out of it after a couple of miles!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 4,987 ✭✭✭ottostreet

I know that 330d and have driven it. It's a fine car, and the seller is honest. I'd have no hesitation in buying it if I needed it.
