thats a good one alright, here one belonging to a buddy of mine, 4 years newer, taxed and tested and i'd say you could have it for almost the same money.

silver car looks like a trendline badged as a gt-tdi?

he means it qualifies for a ZV plate as its over 30y/o. He also right in saying that its NCT exempt. Its the top of the model range coupe, with alleged only 20k on the clock. All those factors make it a very desirable motor to quite a number of people.

    But €20,000?

    no way baby

I know well what a ZV plate is, but the seller mustn't be too up on classics. It will never be NCT exempt (for the forseeable future), since it was registered abroad on the 1st of January 1980 or after, and so will need to be NCT'd every year. If it was a pre '80 log book there'd be some hope of being near the massive price tag (assuming it's as clean in person as he says, I wouldn't trust someone that can't spell ZV and doesn't know what qualifies as NCT exempt), maybe half way. But with an NCT needed every year it'd want to be a seriously impatient enthusiast with a hole in his pocket to pick that up for even half of asking.

my apologies, you are of course correct about the pre-80 cars being NCT exempt.
However, an annual NCT would not put me off (in fact i'd be in favour of it)
A few more pics of the car wouldn't go amiss either. Even if the car was being sold by a dealer who specialises in classics, the pricetag is way over optimistic. The W123 can be prone to rust, but if it has been "wrapped in cotton wool" as the ad states covering that low a mileage would warrant a fairly extensive overhaul, but treated correctly, those cars are built to last.
Still over priced by at least 10k for a privateer though

8k absolute tops if it's mint and original throughout.
It's just a W123 at the end, not an SL (which he obviously can't tell apart), so it's bottom end of the range.

Where does it mention Sl? He says It's a a CE.

Lovely motor, but I can think of a lot better things to spend 20 grand on!

It's a W123 280CE, but I think he was thinking of a 450 SL when he calculated the price.
Lovely motor alright and I have a big soft spot for W123's, but the price is crazy.
The 450SL in my link is less than €8k.

its missing a wheel trim, the passenger side is bashed in, the drivers door is a terrible colour match, the drivers sill is beginning to rot, its got 100k, no tax (presumably) and tested for a little over a month.

    950 quid!

i sold the girlfriends (98) Ka the other week in a similar condition for half that price and i had to fight for it.

And the seller is lying. A car registered in 1980 is NOT exempt from NCT testing...

Sure she started off learning to drive in the thing. That explains a lot. Probably never properly serviced. That's the problem with some small engine cars. Ex girlfriend bumped her Yaris so many times learning to drive. Wrecked the gearbox and still was looking for the price she originally paid for it when trying to sell. There out there alright

I'm sure as standard also comes 4 kerbed wheels, engine oil the color and consistency of tar, airfilter looking like pumpernickel, 4 knackered pads and discs, rust, half the buttons not working, WOW, tape deck!, every panel dented, tracking off, suspension fcuked from being driven at speed over potholes and speedbumps, and so on...
    In short Irish standard servicing.

I reckon it must be a new way for drug dealers to operate in the open. All these cars have their spare wheels stuff with various amounts of cocaine or heroin and you buy the car depending on what your looking to buy. :)

    Polish reg 02' AMG C32 €15k http://cars.donedeal.ie/for-sale/cars/1935717

Stunning cars and one I've been interested in for a few years,

Average uk price on pistonheads is around £6k for a 01'/02'

    current VRT on a 02' is €5208 + a years tax @ 1566 = €6774 OTR

But, assuming he imported it a few years ago, the backdated VRT could cost more then the asking price

Steering wheel is on the wrong side. Worthless.

I doubt theres any chance he'd be volunteering the actual import date of the car so he can pay backdated vrt tbh.

And a ten year old satnav CD... think about that... no motorways in Ireland.. that will be useful.
