Thread-Jacking
You know how it happens; you've seen it in action on numerous occasions. A thread is rolling along, bubbling with a collection of useful information, helpful advice, a little backbiting and a huge helping of sarcasm/wit/running gags/shenaniganism when suddenly someone posts something completely off topic and takes the thread on a totally new tangent. I know I’m guilty of doing just this on numerous occasions.

Some people may feel that this reflects more accurately the way a Real Life conversation runs, while others might believe that whenever the thread frays it needs to be snipped back to being on topic immediately.

Sometimes is done accidentally, frequently it’s an act of sabotage. Is thread-jacking a crime, a misdemeanour or is it actually the saving grace of dull & tedious threads. Does the OP of a hijacked thread have any right to insist that the thread be put back on track? Is the hijacker required to apologise for breaching netiquette and going OT? Does the colour white actually exist?

I saw some owl one shouting on o'connel bridge this morning about a sleeping bag that'd been left in the middle of the path.
A motorbike cop parked up and walked over to her.They argued for a couple of minutes before she legged it across three lanes of traffic with the cop chasing her.
No idea what was going on.
