Pilates for Men

I'm a 25 year old guy and I'm thinking of taking up Pilates.

I have spent a few years on and off in the gym trying to put on muscle and get a nice masculine physique. Have had some success and some set backs, find it pretty difficult to gain muscle but I did start to get fat around the middle which i never was before!

Anyhow, I find the gym so boring and while it would be nice to have a muscular build I think a nice toned and fit build would be more achievable and probably more beneficial (by that I mean switching my goal from improving physique to improving fitness).

    So my idea was this:
    - Pilates to tone all body parts and get a trim tum
    - Some resistance work at home - bodyweight, pull up bar, dips +/- free weights
    - Running

All of this an a sensible diet, no white bread, potatos, pasta, sugary drinks, sweets. Plenty of porridge, nuts, veggies, some fruit (mind that fructose!), whire meat, fish. Switch to steaming meals. Also eating 5-6 smaller meals, eating most of my carbs over brekkie and lunch, no carbs after 5 ish.

Is this feasible? Will I get a nice fit, trim, toned bod. Not skinny though!

Hi, I am 23 and took up pilates as rehabilitation from a pelvis injury caused from playing gaa. That was back in October, I have kept it up and find it really good. My flexibility and overall body tone has improved beyond belief- I do two intermediate classes a week and then two sessions on my own (buy a good mat!)

There will most likely be a lot of women in any class you join but don't let that put you off :pac:
