Morgan's Portnoo is correct but the post box is further away from Portnoo than Rosbeg.
Dunno about the car owner thing, but.
Was tempted to photshop the wall box with an A M with an embossed Euro sign between the initials. Maybe that would put it back in service!

None the wiser about the post box, it's a tricky 1 in all fairness.

    Maybe a clue would help?

Aah, I thought it was a rare one, but it's the VR stand alone boxes that are the rarer. I believe there is one of those in K/begs. The one in the pic is marked on the 25 old OSI map, above the hills of Dunkineely.

    Any guesses on this one?

First strand is Dooey, then across the Gweebarra estuary to Ballyeriston strand and then Narin Portnoo, all from somewhere on Crohy.

Correct on both accounts. The mountain lake with the ocean behind it was beautiful.

Would that be heading from Maas to Dungloe, on your left hand side just past the "statue of liberty" down the wee side road which leads to a wee pier. Looking out west.

Edit. On looking closer you may have also of been standing in a field to get the shot... only a observation. you may have also of been on the main road on the corner, cause looking how the 2 headlands (Ballyiriston & Dooey not 100% what there called) are angled. but yeah im 100% sure im correct either way

This notice seems to be about a century out of date. Maybe a bit obscure, so....

here is my fave mystery pic,

    shop.jpg

Wow, I remember that shop from when I was a kid. There used to be an old phone booth before that smaller building. We would go in the shop for ice cream.

Love that pic of Portnoo - I remember going to Christmas parties there as a kid and always thinking the big pink house was beautiful.
