Anybody ever come accross the king pub crisps in any bars?

I have never been in a bar that does not have them, unless sold out.
Or is this a new brand of King crisp called "pub crisps"?

Oh wait are you refferring to the packet that says pub crisps? I was under the impression that these are just for normal consumers.
the Packets you get in the pub do not say pub crisps. The packaging in pubs is the same as a normal packet, they are just slightly bigger and some say saltier. I think they brought out the pub crisp packet so normal joes can buy the same as they get in the pub.

Right but why would you be looking for them? As i said, pubs do not stock normal packets of king. They have their own which are bigger and perhaps saltier.
The packet that says "pub crisps" as far as i know were brought out so you can purchase the same as you get in the pub at your local supermarket/newsagents.

Im open to correction on this but that is what i have heard many times.

Just ask for a packet of King and you will be grand.

The King crisps are all the same reagardless of packaging as far as I know.

I was told recently that pub crisps are saltier than regular crisps. don't know if it's true, but it would seem plausible.

Anyone remember the old Tayto pub crisps in the yellow and brown bags? They were the greatest crisp of all time imo.

I think the only thing for you to do Plastic Bari is go to a pub and get a packet of King, Then go to a shop and get some king pub crisps. Taste for yourself, preferably a blind taste test and you "should" find they are the same product.
In mythbusters style, your control can be a "normal" packet of store bought king crisps.

You should fine the normal king are in a smaller packet and should taste less salty and therefore not as nice as the ones you got in the pub and the "pub crisps" you got at the supermarket.

Also get on to King and let them explain.. you might even get some free samples

I've also heard about the extra saltiness in pub crisps (back in college days when I worked in a bar), the reason being the salt makes punters drink more.

We used to do sort of the same thing with bowls of peanuts and sticks of cheddar on the counter - increased the thirst.

And I agree, they definitely taste better than the regular ones.

Nobbys nuts are also a fine snack,but i find a taco cheese chips is the way to go.

The blue packet is the deluxe or something like that. Not sure of the difference other than they are more expensive than the normal ones.

I wish our pubs gave out free salty snacks like peanuts etc. It would make us drink more and we could enjoy the snacks at the same time. Win win for the pub.

afaik there is no difference .sure a shopkeeper or publican can go to the cash n carry and buy either type.id sat its a gimmick

youre right zaph they were the greatest crisp ever. They were slightly darker due I believe to the use of a russet potato (higher starch content) .
