If you could reform any one band with its "classic" lineup
    who would it be.
    I'd think Emperor

I love Genesis, but i really don't know about this. It's like who was the better vocalist for Marillion in the sense that for Genesis, you'll have a good percentage who'll favour Gabriel, just as good a percentage favouring Collins, a smaller percentage who couldn't care less and a very small percentage asking "Who the f*ck was Ray Wilson?".

I just think the original lineup with Hackett on Guitar and Gabriel on vocals were really it, they made some truly classic albums, and they haven't been the same since really. Big B is going to do his nut here :pac:

    Pink Floyd. End of.

Been said but saying it again.
The answer is Guns N'Roses! Feic getting any other band back for nostagic reasons! But failing Guns, bring back Audioslave and lets see what they can do.

    Pink Floyd. End of.

Although floyd were an AMAZING band it would still have to be guns n roses..

their splitting up was quite controversial AND they are probably the least expected band to reform in the whole world..

therefore the reformation of them would be oh so awesome ..:D

    AC/DC with Bon Scott

I'm sorry I can't sympathise with the Guns & Roses crew. I really only liked justice.

Pantera would be unbelievable and if we get into bands that have dead members I would have to submit the might Zep.

Also, Decapitated and Taste would be incredible.

    You going on the 26th?

I was looking at getting tickets (if they're still available) but I dunno – just can't imagine them without Layne :(

Still in 2 minds though, but I haven't heard any of their stuff William DuVall...

Appetite for Destruction-era Guns N' Roses were who I thought of immediately when I saw this thread so I'll have to join the many others in going for them.

    The Small Faces

But they'd be so old now.

Ian Hunter's website says Mott the Hoople are doing two shows at the beginning of October. That's a reunion of a previous best band in the world they said would never happen! I love Mott, but I couldn't watch 70 year old blokes in sequins and platform boots play...........

if the dead count then Queen will surely win the title

but if we are going by only those who are still alive then I would have to say that I struggle to think of a band who haven't reunited in the last couple of years that I didn't want to see, although Megadeth circa 92 would be nice as Countdown to Extinction was a group effort and the only time Megadeth ever really felt like a band as opposed to a Mustaine solo effort.

David Ellefson, Marty Friedman, Dave Mustaine, Nick Menza is the true lineup

Like the current lads though and I think if Mustaine keeps them around they could go far

Dunno about a true lineup, but definitely the longest lasting.

Megadeth have pretty much been a revolving door of musicians for most of their existance. The RIP lineup lasted what, seven years? Mustaine is too much of a control freak and ends up driving members away. Once he and Ellefson drifted, it was pretty much the death of a stable existance for the band, now i love Megadeth, don't get me wrong, but lets be real here, nobody thought Ellefson would ever leave/be fired.

He's not the only one! I'm so refraining from comment on this one as i'm avoiding a banning! I will agree that they haven't been the same since though...

... they got better and took it to the next level, something that would never have happened with Gabriel on vocals.

Yes, but Second Coming was the Roses second full studio effort (excluding compilations), and what was Guns N Roses? The Two Use Your Illusion albums.

    GNR > Stone Roses..... > YOU! :D

    Oi! that's rubbish

    Spaghetti has some good tunes:
    Ain't it Fun
    Down on the Farm
    New Rose
    Raw Power
    Buick Makane

All good tunes and worth the price of admission
