Baroque beginners CD?

Hi all,

I've recently developed a taste for Baroque music, particularly Pachelbel and Bach. I've looked online for Baroque CDs and found literally hundreds, all with various collections, and at very different prices.

Can someone please recommend a few CDs, by good orchestras or musicians, that capture the passion and beauty of this music period, and will give me a good introduction to Baroque?

speaking of the Brandenburg concertos, I have these two recordings, both on period instruments. Both are pretty good in my opinion.

This first one by the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment and then the Academy of Ancient Music.

Would recommend Magnificat (Bach), Dixit Dominus (Handel). Try some of the complilation CD's such as "Essential Baroque". I find "I tunes" great for buying various CD's. You can select various composers and CD's and listen to an extract from each track before buying.
