What are the implications if any when a company is billed in its trading name as opposed to full company name. ie "Company Ltd t/a Comp" is billed as "Comp". Is this acceptable from a VAT point of view?

It's fine- the system is self assessment VAT returns- as long as your return is in and the invoice is on file- if the Revenue decide to Audit you can get it corrected.

If the trading name has been registered there will be no problem at all
