    Tuesday 24th February

    Irish Open Satellite.

    2 Main Event Tickets Guaranteed

    €150 + €15 "No Limit" Hold'em.

    1 x €150 Rebuy or Top-up.

Starting Stack : 3,500 (plus an early bird chip of 500 if you are in your seat for the start of play).

    Rebuy/Top-up : 5,000

    Rebuy period : 80 minutes (4 x 20 min levels)

    Clock : 20/25 minutes.

Doors open at 8pm for a 9pm Start.

    The Structure

    25 - 50 - 0 - 20 min clock
    50 - 100 - 0
    75 - 150 - 0
    100 - 200 - 0

    15 min break

    150 - 300 - 0
    150 - 300 - 25 - 25 min clock

    3000 - 6000 - 500

Please note that the Main Event tickets are a must take. There will be no cash alternative available.

January's Satellite had 49 runners with three lucky people winning their seat to this year's Irish Open. I've had a lot of interest for this Satellite so I would say between 80-90 runners with 5 - 7 tickets up for grabs.

    Double Cash Game Hours

    Every Tuesday and Thursday.

The starting stacks are sh1te for the buy in and the rebuy is also ,and it only makes this game a €315 Krapshoot. IMO

Qualifiers from the Sporting Emporium for the Irish Open.

    2007 : 27

    2008 : 30

    2009 (so far) : 3

Same structure for all 3 years with the exception of this year where there is a 500 early bird chip.

I refer you to the events in the WSOP. $2000 for 2000 chips. then again. I suppose it is the World krapshoot championship.

You're wrong, in a $2,000 tournament you get 4,000 chips.

I am in no way knocking the amount of people qualified over the past few years from the SE .
I am just pointing out that there is absolutely no value for some1 like me to drive an hour and half for a 3.5k stack which i could and have lost in the 1st level on many an occasion and then pay another 150 for 5k which is still leaving me short stacked against the guy that i just doubled up.
I have always liked playing in the SE , I just see no value in this. SRY

Damo is not comparing the SE sat to a WSOP €2,000 crapshoot. What he is saying is that there are better structured Irish Open sats available offering better value for money and that he feels the SE should give better starting stack for this type of game.

For example, JP runs a weekly sat in the Jackpot for €215 with a 10k starting stack and Ross runs a weekly sat in The Poker Room for €160 with a 10k starting stack (11k with early bird) and one ticket guaranteed if 20 players play.

    :D

We are offering a chance to Win entry into a €3,500 Tournament for just €165. In past Satellites an average of 70% of the field have taken the rebuy which means you are not forced into having the rebuy/top-up.

The Sporting Emporium often sets the trend for Structures, but when there could be between 80-130 runners we simply can't offer a 7,000 starting stack with 8,000 for the rebuy. The Tournament would never finish within one day.

Having said that, I understand that if people are coming from all over Ireland they would like a better structured Tournament that doesn't finish at 6am on a weekday, so what about a Saturday Satellite ? I would need to get it ok'd with the Management first but would anybody be interested in that ? It would probably be a €200-€300 Freezeout with an increased stack and longer clock. A 7pm Start would allow 11 hours of play.

    Thanks,

    Alex

I think the structure for this is fine and chances are if I am still ticketless, I will play at least one of these in the SE. What do you expect Damo? 10k stack and 30 min clock? Would go on for 2 days. As it is it probably doesn't finish until after 3 even with 3 tickets.

Edit: I would also be interested in a Saturday 300 freezeout with the same structure as your monthly 200 game structure.

Why not start at 8.00pm, you'd get the first 3 levels played before your starting time

Sure why not do a €350 blind omaha imo! :pac: Cuts out all the crap and is done in 5 minutes.

Would play if this was on a Saturday as Tuesday is not an option with work.
    Hope you run this Alex.

I played the Fitz IO sat last night which had the exact same structure I believe but for €100 less. I think the structure is pretty standard.

When I played the SE satellite last month I found the structure fine until about 5 handed with 3 tickets up for grabs. At that point they agreed to freeze the blinds but in general I was comfy for most of the evening.

Kudos to the SE who have gone from no guarantee to a 2 ticket guarantee. WP

+1 aswell with the guarantee, now to get that in the weekly schedule would be excellent, onwards and upwards.

If you guarantee it they will come.....

Nobody's questioning the structure dom , just the starting stack. As i have said b4 i like playing in the SE . I just see no value for me to travel so far.
Just to give you a comparison , i drove down to Newross to ceasers for a sat last year because it was a good structure with a good starting stack and drove back the same night without a ticket, but i wasn't really that annoyed because there was plenty of play with a decent stack.

Do the SE still only accept passports or full drivers licence to joint as i have neither just me age card buy i am 23 and wouldnt mind playing in this?

I would need to get it ok'd with the Management

sorry if this is out of thread, your so called MANAGEMENT doesnt care about us, poker players, they only care about the people playing downstairs at the gaming area.
the reason i said that is because we were playing cash game last sunday and we're about 8 people and around 5:15 am they call it last 3 hands and we ask them why they are calling it a bit early and the answer we got was "because they are closing downstairs, no ones playing in the gaming area" by hearing that its very obvious that they really dont care about poker, arent we a paying customer as well?
by the way, at that time im not losing, im still a little bit up but they suppose to open until 6am, i know its only 45 mins but they still plenty of play that will happen on that remaining time.

I HAVE NO PROBLEM WITH YOU ALEX JUST TO YOUR SO CALLED MANAGEMENT

Ah i was waiting for that, touche! I dont mean to sound smart or anything but if you not happy with the satellite you certainly dont have to play it. As Alex has pointed out you dont have to rebuy or top up so you can qualify for €165 with a 3500 starting stack 4000 if your early and if you have your rebuy or top up its 8500/9000 total which isnt bad.

Like the structure for a weekday & your reply on this.
    Not interested in a Saturday

I think the structure is fine too. I played one last year and got down to the last 3 tables (out of 8), it was approx. 2.30 am when i busted so god knows what time it went on till!!?? That was my reason for not attempting another one - its just too hard for anyone working the following morning to stay up playing poker until 4/5am and expect to get up for work at 7/8am!! I would definitely be up for playing this if it was on a Friday night and i reckon it would get in the region of 100+ runners no problem!! I hope this can be made possible as i enjoy playing in the emporium!! Would anyone else on here be in favour of a Friday satelite in the Emporium??

As with some of the other posters I'd love to see a Friday or Saturday sat. Midweek does mean playing through to 5am and for those who have work that's a big factor.

Fridays or Saturdays work much better for me as with many others it is difficult to get to work on Wednesdays if play on Tuesdays

48 runners, 4 tickets (topped up to 4 by SE/PPP who covered the 500 shortfall). Finished around 4.30. I got one of the tickets. Tom (thenutpeddlar) got one too, some lad called Alva (something like that, youngish Irish lad) and another lad I recognise, but don't know the name of. I am knackered today.

Good game, I doubled you up with your AQ and
Tom kindly doubled up my AK.

Hand of the night, Vera all in with AJ and in trouble against AK,

Fair play to PPP/SE for the €500 overlay.

    cheers mate,

now I just have to lose 7 pounds in 8 days to win my little prop bet.

    wp everyone

The guy who bubbled seemed a very decent player who's luck was out. I'm sure he'll qualify again somwhere.

    FT wasn't without it's sickness.

Reggie corrigan raises, some dude ships then the young fella who got a ticket ships too. Reggie folds.

    AK off vs AK off

four flush and K of hearts takes it. Poor fella.

we were all dancing on the inside though.

fair play to the SE and Noel. I think we should part of the sole surviver promotion now :)

That was Kevin Fitzpatrick. I've played a lot with Kevin, and he is certainly one of the better players on the Irish scene. I was really hoping Kevin would get a ticket, at least until it got 5 handed with him the shorty as I just wanted it to end that is :)

    He'll definitely be playing anyhow.
