Dizzy spells when resting

    Hi all,
After a bit of a shock early this year i decided to give up my lardy ways and get healthy. In the last month or so i've given up booze, started eating healthily and going for 30 min brisk walk every day (2 x 30 mins. on weekends). I'm about 6ft and currently weigh 115kg.

I'm feeling a hell of a lot better, my blood pressure and heart-rate are coming down, and even though it's only been 4 weeks i'm losing a bit of weight already.

The only thing that's worrying me is that i've noticed that while i'm fine walking - no shortness of breath, no chest pains or anything, i occasionally get dizzy spells, it's most noticeable during the day when i'm sitting at my desk and not doing anything strenuous at all.

Is it because my blood pressure and heart rate is coming down that i'm not getting enough oxygen when resting?
Any one know what's going on? And how do i get through it?

Could be a blood pressure thing and it is probably worth going to your doc for an all-over checkup, especially if you have been very sedentary for quite a while and have had a poor diet for a while. A lifestyle change like this has a pretty significant effect on the body so it could be a reaction of sorts to the changes.

That's the thing, i just saw him on Monday for a check up to go over a plan for getting healthy and losing a few stone over the next year or so, (which turns out was pretty much what i'd been doing for the previous three weeks anyway) so as far as he's concerned, i'm good to go.

I just don't want to head in to see him again, (and pay €65 for the pleasure) for him to say it's something silly like i need to be eating more peas.

yes but did he know you were getting dizzy spells intermittendly.

he shouldnt charge you 65 euro again as it should be a follow up, and i dont think anyone on the forum can tell you why you are getting them realistically.

it could be nothing, but better to be sure, then get a bad spell, fall and smack your head.

i'll head back and see what he says.
