I've been looking for these as well, except magnetic ones that you can just pop on the end of DBs. Any ideas? around 0.5kg - 1kg would be good

I imagine there are loads of 0.5kg standard plates like these lying around unused in peoples houses. They come with the York barbell & dumbbell sets in argos and most outgrow them and are probably not into the tiny increases you guys want, e.g. using SS.

Thing is it is not worth peoples time to sell them, i.e. arrange to meet up with individuals for a few €, it would be good if some shop or gym took in second hand plates, it is not like they go bad, if rusty they could repaint them. I bought used plates before from Mickk, collected in his gym.

For lower than 0.5kg it might be more economical to buy extra collars.

Try to make continuous linear gains on a lift like the shoulder press without 0.5kg plates and tell me how you get on.

OP, there was a few threads on this subject a while back, my suggestion is to just make them yourself out of something that weighs 0.5kg and a bit of string.

Rubadub (I think), had a more elegant solution, which was to buy some of those ankle or wrist weights and wrap them around the bar. You should be able to get them in those kinds of weights.
