    Hi all.
Just thinkin that this is most likely already done but who is your favourite on screen hero and why?

Up until a couple of months ago mine was Batman until Rob D Jr came along and blew me away with his outstanding performance as ironman. I think he's the best because well who else has a suit for every occasion and a mini arc reactor core in his chest to prevent him from dying??

I wanna hear your opinions on who you think is the best!!

Jules Winfield (Sam Jackson Pulp Fiction) Cos he is just so fcuking cool, the hair, the suit, the "biblical" quote.Everything melds together.

Takuma Tsurugi (Sonny Chiba in the Street Fighter) He is the ultimate movie badass/anti hero. He would batter a woman if he thought she was asking for it,was a mercenery for hire and is just an asskicking machine.

Eric Draven (Brandon Lee in the Crow) What can I say that hasnt been already said?An extremely dark revenge/romance movie, iconic make up,a star making performance from Lee (ye can stick Heath Ledgers Joker)and of course Lee's last on screen performance.Near flawless IMO.

The man with no name from Clint Eastwood cowboy movies. He couldn't be cooler...

I'd go with Ripley from Alien movies for female hero

Hitler in Downfall. Loving your work baby.

I also liked Ed Norton in American History 10. The way he protects his property by smashing that guys face into the sidewalk. Brought a tear to my eye.

Michael Caine in Get Carter. It's such a classy, powerful and real performance and he's the perfect anti-hero.

Popeye Doyle in the French Connection. Hilarious, edgy, determined. He's great.

Love Ash. Everything goes wrong for him except when he's fighting. Also Eric Draven and Leon.

My favourite would have to be Bruce Lee. Because everything he could do on screen, he could do off screen. Legend.

Dr John Nash (played by Russell Crowe) in "A Beautiful Mind." A brilliant intellect, who challenged the economic theory of his time (winning the Nobel Prize), while struggling and eventually learning to live with his mental illness.

Has to be Jack Burton from Big Trouble in Little China. No magical powers, no martial arts, a knife as a weapon. The man just got in there, no fear and fooked them baddies up....legend!

Harry Callaghan of Dirty Harry fame

Callaghan learns he is being transferred to Personnel
Harry Callahan: Personnel? That's for assholes!
Capt McKay: I was in Personnel for ten years.
    Harry Callahan: Yeah.

    Callaghan hands in his badge
    Harry Callahan: Here's a seven-point suppository, Captain.
Capt McKay: What did you say?
Harry Callahan: I said stick it in your ass.

Howard Roark in The Fountainhead. Someone who steadfastly refuses to compromise his vision, no matter what it costs him. You dare to alter the building I designed? Where did I put that dynamite..?

You are the type of what the age is searching for, and what it is afraid it has found. I am so glad that you have never done anything, never carved a statue, or painted a picture, or produced anything outside of yourself! Life has been your art. You have set yourself to music. Your days are your sonnets.

Thing I like about that line is that in the next movie Empire Strikes Back Vader is able to just pull the blaster out of Hans hand.

The Gene Genie - cos he takes no sh1te

Ripley - cos she was the original female action hero

Jason Bourne - cos he'd kick nine kinds of sh1te out of James Bond without a single gadget

House - cos he doesn't care

    Arnie in t2

    DCI Jane Tennison - brilliant

    President Bartlet...............what's next?

Even though Kurt Russel himself has said before in interviews one performance was a John Wayne impression and the other was Clint Eastwood my favourites would be Jack Burton and Snake Plissken.

I love both Escape movies. The first is a masterpiece, the second is a trashy sort of remake of the first but it has a certain charm and Snake makes the movie. It also has a fantastic ending. The trailer to it is still to this day one of my favourite movie trailers of all time. Still remember seeing it for the first time at the cinema and I had no idea there even was a new Snake movie. Ah the good old days, when you could actually be surprised by a trailer. Now we know everything that's coming thanks to the net.

    Here's the New York trailer.

    Here's good ole Jack's.

Too many to choose from but here's some I can think of..

Jake and Elwood Blues - The Blues Brothers
Great music and these too really act like brothers...

    Frank Drebbin - Naked Gun
Leslie Nielsen's best outing... I defy you not to laugh at this film..

The Dude and Walter - The Big Lebowski
John Goodmans best ever performance.. Jeff Bridges aint half bad either, just makes lazyness look cool...

    Mark Wahlberg The Departed

'I'm the guy who does his job, you must be the other guy'

probably the best performance of the past few years, well imo anyway

I thought it was a good performance but the best performance of the past few years? Hardly a stretch for Wahlberg to play a loudmouth Bostonian ;)

yeah I suppose it's just been a fair while since a gangster flick with memorable lines and he was killing line after line.

I should've said best supporting performances but then I suppose the Heath Ledger mob would complain

    One man deserves a mention

he 1. saved The President from being assassinated, stopped a nuclear bomb from going off, stopped a virus from infecting the world, stopped all US nuclear power plants blowing from up, discovered that the president was aiding terrorism and stoped him, stoped another 3 nuclear bombs from going off

That man of course is the person who has replaced Chuck Norris as the greatest on screen character (see thread http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2054879929&page=3). I give you Jack Bauer

    13096795_9526010f49.jpgjack%20bauer%204%20pres%20book.jpg
He also gave the world this
    G774-282~24-Kim-Bauer-Affiches.jpg
    a true hero.
If you send someone to kill Jack Bauer, the only thing you've accomplished is supplying him a fresh set of weapons to kill you with.

When you open a can of whoop-ass, Jack Bauer jumps out.

Jack Bauer played Russian Roulette with a fully loaded gun and won.

People with amnesia still remember Jack Bauer.

You should drop Jack Bauer on the Island from lost, hed get all the answers you want and have it done in 24 hours.
