    ...that other's just can't believe.

Sound of Music - and I have no desire to ever see it.

The Wizard of Oz - Just never seems to be on

Gone with the Wind - Is it any good? i dunno...

Lawrence of Arabia - Seems like something I should see.

The Elephant Man - People can believe that I haven't seen this, but I think it's probably worth watching.

    Yours?

Tree of the Wooden Clogs - voted 108th best film of all time in Empire magazine. Got the DVD but haven't watched it yet because it's 3 hours with subtitles.

Friend from college gave me a lend of Withnail and I last November and have yet to watch it. Really should soon.
And bought a copy of Andrej Rublev last summer while going through a Tarkovsky phase. DVD is still sitting up there, mainly because you have to be in a very particular mood to get the most out of three hour long Russian epics :o

Also got some funny looks today because I hadn't seen Con Air.

Indiana Jones : Pretty much all of them.
    2001: A Space Odyssy
    Star Wars: Episode 3
    Schindlers List

    ....will think of others

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,509 ✭✭✭SpitfireIV

    Ok, where to start! :D

    - None of 'The Godfathers' - not that interested in seeing them anyway

    - None of the 'Lord of the Rings' - certainly not interested!

    - 'Matrix' - ugh.......:p

    - None of the 'Star Wars' - CERTAINLY not interested :pac:

    - Only seen one of the 'James Bonds' - Personally I think that was enough.

    - Shrek and all those animated movies, the last one I seen was Toy Story when it came out first :D - maybe someday

    - More or less all the 'Batmans' I think the only one I seen was the one with Jim Carey.

I think thats it for the 'people just cant believe it category', there is of course a host of others.

You want a list of any old stuff thats popular or stuff that I "should" have seen to make me a better person? Like Babble? :pac:

The Rules of the Game (1939)
    Discreet Charm of the Bourgeoisie
    Schindlers List
    The English Patient
    Breaking the waves
    Saving Private Ryan.

You know what, dont ever watching it either (even if forced to! :p), its rubbish! Seriously!

Matrix is only one, I have not seen the attempts of sequels and I don't want to. Brokeback Mountain, Starwars, Goodfellas (what is that?), Schindler's List and many more are definitely NOT on my schedule.
Citizen Kane, Hunger, The Van, 24 Hour Party People, History of Violence, Natural Born Killers, Snatch and lots more are on my "want" list.

Havent seen alot of classic films, not saying I wouldnt want to watch them but after all they hype it always feels a bit of a letdown in some way!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,509 ✭✭✭SpitfireIV

    Oh! I forgot:

    - Scarface

    - Donny Darko

    - Pulp Fiction

    - Resevoir Dogs

    - kingdom of Heart, troy, all those ancient, historical blah dee blahs

    - Kill Bill 1 or 2

    - OH! Never seen ANY of those feckin' 'Alien' movies!! :D

    - Those 'Fast and Furious' movies

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,816 ✭✭✭Acacia

'The Godfather' and 'Desperado'. Also 'E.T.' and 'The Sound of Music'. I was forced into watching 'Pulp Fiction' recently and loved it, though.

Never seen much of the James Bond films, except when I flicked through them when they're on telly. But then the thought of a misogynistic goon with an annoying accent driving around in a fast car (like, OMG!!1) and turning pens into bombs doesn't really appeal to me...God, I hate James Bond with a passion!

You're not missing much there, tbh. Although you should watch 'Troy' if only to slag off Colin Farell's accent and poor attempt at acting.

'Donnie darko' and 'Pulp Fiction' will not disappoint though. :D

I guess the last film of this genre that I seen was Gladiator, I can just about deal with that, but the others I think just came too fast and furious trying to jump on the 'historical/mytical' bandwagon following on from the Gladiator success.

Yeah, same with the 'fantasy' films coming out , trying to emulate LOTR's success. I quite liked 'Gladiator', though.

Never seen LOTR's :D - or any of the subsequent fantasy films, I guess I havent got the mental capacity to deal with things that I just know cant happen or are not possible in reality :P:pac:

Every xmas i say i'm going to watch Its a Wonderful Life and every year i dont.
Only watched Braveheart a few weeks ago and people still cant believe i didn't see 'Miss Doubtfire'. But it just looks so puke inducing-ly nice.

Have loads of films on DVD that i know will be good, but just haven't got around to watching.

LOTR was good, but stuff like 'Stardust' and the rest are pretty much garbage, imo. :pac:

I have never seen Withnail & I, never want to either and from what I have ever seen of it, it appears to be a miserable little British movie about smart-arsed drunks being drunk & utterly obnoxious. I can see plenty of that kind of behaviour around the city centre on a Saturday night for free.

It doesn't really count, but I have never, in one sitting, sat through Apoloclypse Now. I found it over-wrought and so far up its own ass-crack they need Mountain Rescue to get it out. And as for Brando's near-legendary 9 minutes in it ... well. Yeah, thanks but no thanks.

sorry mate but that is one of the most moronic things I have ever read on the boards.

How can you pass judgement on a movie that you have NEVER seen

as for movies I have never seen off the top of my head

    Forest Gump
    Full monty
    Titanic

I have seen clips, trailers & various talking heads waxing lyrical (from various "top 100" shows) about the great Withnail & I; based on all that, it looks a pair of boozers behaving like asses. Like the Godfather, it's one of those movies that's unavoidable. Maybe watching it would change my mind who knows, but the same could be said for every other movie in this thread, or every other movie, period. Including your own so Sorry mate yourself. :)

I am just saying that how can you possibly have an opinion and make assumptions on a movie that you have NEVER seen in FULL???

why don’t you do yourself a favour go watch it and then come back and we will debate the "drunken behavior" and "stupidity" of this "miserable little British movie"

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,347 ✭✭✭Sean Quagmire

It's weird the Godfather films came straight into my head when thinking on films i havent seen.

in the words of peter griffin - 'i never cared for the Godfather'

Uhh, it's a thread asking about movies people have never seen! So bonkers rationales are a given; I gave one, on the basis that "couldn't be arsed / not interested" probably wouldn't have been as interesting an ice-breaker :)
