Unless you have been hiding under a rock over the couple of years we are not at all far behind the UK in surveillance CCTV and yes our civil liberties will be eroded and even more so as we integrate our resources throughout the EU.

Watch this space for the congestion charge CCTV cams that will soon be introduced into Dublin that will help "clean up the city" and also conveniently track your whereabouts in real time. http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news/politics/6902543.stm

I'm wondering where the 'Green Issue' is in all this nonsense about CCTV?

It should be your duty to learn about it, not anyone else's to educate you. Try the Patriot act, the anti-terror acts, the hate speech laws, etc. Just to name a few major offenders. Some people may point out that those don't affect us, the Irish, but this is both incredibly provincial and also untrue. When the great democracies of the world start sliding, we will almost certainly follow.

Last night a participated in a free speech debate at UCD, and I later socialised with the debating squad, and it is my opinion that all the people who spoke against the motion either don't know the meaning of liberty or don't care about it.

Not only that, but they have absolutely nothing to do with the subject of this forum.

Lovely, carbon credits on a micro level. Another way for a pack of wasters to make money out of nothing on the back of society.
