I reckon Excelsior is actually Carling in a different tin - anyone know if I'm right?

Taste is not the best but certainly nicer than Dutch.

The german beer in the bottles - 6 pint bottles for around 7 euro is very nice though. Can't think of the name, but its 5%

There is also Finkbrau - 24 small bottles for a tenner - at that price you can't complain.

I like the perlenbacher. Grafenwalder hefe-Weiss is good too.

Today i picked up some Guinness Foreign extra in Superquinn Blackrock and from across the road in Oddbins i got some other interesting premium beers i have not had before.

I do not buy cheap beer any more however i do like the perlenbacher.

I agree about Perlenbacher - lovely stuff. Has anyone tried St. Etienne from Aldi, great stuff and not to disimiliar to Stella? Only 1.15E a 500ml can, can't complain. :D

Also at Aldi, Steinhauser is good, too.

Really is awful. A friend brought it to oxegen a couple of years back thinking he had made a steal getting a tray of it for ~€20 i think, regretted it the whole weekend.
    "It tastes like blood" and
"It's a can of pure frustration" are the 2 descriptions i remember most

Perlenbacher and Excelsior are both p**s in my opinion. Bloody hard to drink anything after tasing Franziskaner from Lidl there a few weeks ago. Has to be the best beer you can buy in this country:D
Spaten from Aldi is good also.
Dutch Gold, is for cleaning the toilet bowl. Galahad, is for cleaninmg the toilet brush.

Two absolutely brilliant beers can be got from Aldi at ANY time (not specials)
    6 x 500ml bottles of Frankfurter German beer (4.9%) €6.29
or 500ml bottles of Chech beer Strasoslav (think that'S how it's spelt) 5% are €1.09 each and it's GREAT beer.

Had a few last night, chilled them nicely in the freezer, and they went down so well I returned today to Aldi in Naas to pick up another 6!

I promise anyone buying it won't be disappointed you have a genuine Gucky guarantee lol!

Haven't tried the Aldi beers. I think Perlenbacher is lovely stuff though, and every couple of months is on special with €2 off, so €4.29 for 6 x 500ml bottles :).

Is the Frankfurter stuff nicer than Perlenbacher in people's opinion?
Also, how does the Strasoslav compare to both?

    Cheers.

I actually think that this Frankfurter and perlenbacher are the same stuff.
Taste (well at least for me) is the same, bottle is the same, shape and loyout of stickers are the same as well.

    Plus 1!!!!!

I have suspected this for a year or two now, thank God someone agrees with me!

TThe strasoslav is a wee bit nicer IMO (not complaining about perlenbacher/frankfurter though)

its a darker beer not too gassy, and a few bottoes will get the effect your after thats for sure!

Look it at a euro sure you cant go wrong lol!
