    Hi,

I want to start doing yoga and pilates, however there are different variations within each. Does anyone have any advice or suggestions on what I should start with? Or better yet can anyone reccommend someone good to go to? I really don't have a clue but want to try it. Can any one help?

    Thank you

    :)

where do you live or work and we can throw up some suggestions in your area?

    what are your goals?

Why do you want to do either?

I work in town in Dublin 2, but I live by the Phoenix park. The main area that would suit would be city centre. Can you reccommend someone?

Sorry forgot my goals. My main goal is to become fit. I don't want to be knackered running 50 metres to get the bus!! I wanna be toned and lose 2 stone also. My main goal overall is to look better, feel better and build my confidence.

I would like to try both because it's something different. never done it before and why not try.

I am not sure about doing both although I have seen classes advertised that mix both disciplines together.....personally I would recommend pilates, it was recommended to me by my physio after I injured my back and it is brillient, the movements can often be quite small but it is all about controlled effort and while at the time you might think your not doing a lot - trust me the next day you will feel it!!!

I am not sure about classes in the city centre though as I was going to ones in UCD which is in the opposite direction to you...but I imagine that there must be classes in the city - good luck!

Well I know the Phoneix park is a big place but there is a pilates studio not to far from the Phoneix park (of course it depends on which side of the park) on Prussia Street. Check the link below. :)

the elbow room is in smithfield and offers pilates and yoga.

also check out http://www.yogadublin.com/ as they have classes in town also.

Have to let you know though - neither will make much of a dent in dropping 2 stone - gotta sort out diet, do weights and cardio, yoga/pilates should be see as a bonus after teh previous have been undertaken.
