Right folks I need some serious help. Ive been set a major goal that I HAVE to achieve, for myself and my club.

After 14 years I am scheduled to do my Karate Black Belt grading in 6 weeks. My instructor has faith in me and I dont want to let him down.

I want to change my diet. I eat bread and sugar, which I want to cut out. But what do I eat instead of it for lunch, etc? My instructor has done this and he says his energy levels are better than ever and he has no bloated feeling.

Any help and advice folks would be greatly appreciated. Ill be updating my Fitness Log with this information and my training over the next 6 weeks.

    Shodan here I come!

Pretty much everything is in the stickies. If you eat white bread (you really, really shouldn't be eating it) then switch to wholegrain. You don't strictly need to cut it out, but good substitutes are simply more meat and veg or fish. When you say sugar, do you mean chocolate, sweets, junk, or sugar in the form of carbs? Your best bet is to cut out all processed food (this includes things like anything from your frozen food section in supermarkets) and make sure all carbs are wholegrain if you do have them.

If you ensure the bulk of your diet is made up of non-processed foods, you really can't go wrong.

You could replace the sugar with natural sugars, i.e. fruit and juice, and you could replace the bread with wholegrain bread.

I generally don't eat sandwiches for lunch. I either bring food with me (cook extra food the night before) or I buy a proper meal in a restaurant.
