New eating plan, too much PUFA?

So I've started a new eating plan, basically to cut a long story short it's very low carb except for breakfast and post-training.

Breakfast would consist of a bowl of high-nut content muesli with some flax seed (tbsp) thrown in, and a chicken breast.

The rest of the meals throughout the day would vary between:

A chicken breast, some veg (brocolli mostly, all steamed), several grams of fish oil (3-6)

The same as above but with nuts such as walnuts or brazil nuts in place of fish oil

A shake consisting of milk, whey and natural peanut butter (handy in a hurry)

PWO is NutritionX RAM and also a higher carb meal, though generally "clean".

I'm aiming for about 3k cals, and I weight approx. 80kg. I would estimate my bf at about 14%. Most of my cals are from fish oil and nuts, apart from PWO carbs.

I guess my question is, I've been trying to keep my omega 3 : omega 6 ratio as ideal as possible, but in other peoples experience (and I must admit I have a pretty good knowledge of lipid metabolism) has anyone found a detrimental effect from too much omega 3?

That level of fish oil should not be a problem. As long as you are not taking any blood thinning medication with your fish oil, and are eating lots of green veg, I can't see a problem. Fish oil in high dose can be a blood thinner, but green veg high in Vitamin K tends to keep the blood able to clot, so they are a good combination.

what are your reasons for taking in so much fish oil? granted it will probably not do you any harm but it may not be any use to take quite so much??

It's not that much really, 3-6g a day, most of the rest of his fats are from food. Ok, higher than most people take, but not exceptional. I take 2-4g a day on a normal day, more if I'm cutting hard.

That's what I thought, not so worried about it really.

@EileenG: you're not perchance involved in research by any chance are you?

I don't do it, but I'm slightly obsessive about following it. You should see my clippings file!

Ah I was just wondering as your username is similar to the name of one of my colleagues.

Anyway, I guess the eating is ok then. Now all I have to do is eradicate alcohol!
