    Evenin' all!

What would you do if you had 6 months free with a guaranteed good job waiting at the end of the period???

Right, I'll be finished college at the start of June (ahh! Real world!!!) and I have a career-wise job 99% confirmed to start in January of 2010... So basically I have 6 full months from mid June till mid December to go and travel/work/have a mad adventure! And I'm just interested in hearing your ideas if you were in my situation???

    Things to bear in mind:

    - Been lucky enough to have done the US and Canada in my youth, so not interested.

    - Not interested in a J1 visa/Aussie visa booze cruise/crappy job type holiday.

    - I want to do something mad and aventurous! While bearing in mind that I don't really have a lot of money to start off with so I'll probably have to work for a bit... but sure I'd like to do that in another country anyway!

Right, fire away with your suggestions!!! :D

    Phew.

    *wibes brow*

I thought you were going on a killing spree and were looking for suggestions for some victims.

*walks off and crumples up list*

    Actually you could do that.

    - I want to do something mad and aventurous!

    1. Run around the streets screaming "Ah haha hahaha, I have a career job starting in 2010 and I have 6 months of worry-free bliss to burn before I get there".

    2. For the entire 6 months, wear a placard saying "I LOVE FF".

    3. Combine suggestion 1 with suggestion 2.

THAT would be mad and adventurous!

Spend it realising that that 1% figure is highly likely to grow in the next six months. In fact it probably multiplied in the last 6 hours after Cowen's little chat.

Man, the way things are going at this moment in time - I wouldn't puzzle yourself too much over how best to fill your time...You say you've got the guarantee of a job next January- I know I'd start by grinning inanely and come Halloween I'd reassess my 'options'...to grin even more inanely or just tone it down a level - perhaps a long knowing snigger in the run up to Christmas - the world really is your oyster man...

forget about personal hygene until you start you new job

I would start with killing small stuff like ants and work your way up to killing elephants and whales. 6 months should give you enough practice.

    Hello,

You could buy a one month interrail pass to travel around Western Europe. Stay in cheap hostels while locking your valuables in safety lockers at train stations.

For the second month do Eastern Europe but dont buy an interrail pass for Eastern Europe as the rail fares are dirt cheap.

Then you could consider Thailand where you could live on 200 a month. Do a tefl if you want to work there.

I think it takes 6 months after leaving college to get the dole but you can get if you lie about that. But the welfare crowd are checking everything now.

    Good luck

    After all these absurd answers...

Its obviously going to be a mad adventure relating to travelling !.
You will need money first , so job is needed !
After that I would recommend china which is cheap.
I had a blast there last year.
I would also recommend thailand which is cheap.

Hard to be adventurous without money !

try and stay awake for 1 minute longer each and every day. by the end of six months, you'll need 3 hours less sleep than you do now. going out midweek will be a walk in the park.

Take up Golf. Ireland has some of the best golf courses in the world. Thats what id be doing. We also have the best drink in the world - Guinness - so id also be slaughtering pints of that between rounds too.

Alternatively you could take up internet poker. Play on the free sites for 6 months and then when you finally have money from your job to play games for cash, you will be a complete shark and will be cleaning up so much so that you'll have a 2nd income. That recession beating advice if ever i heard it.

The only thing virtual money poker is good for is learning the rules. You can't learn to play until there's real money involved.
