How much do they get paid?

I got ?261 a week back in 05/06, I think it went up to 275 or so after that. There's rooms paid for you for the year on top of that.

Apperently Conor Mc Quillan is going to run for Dept. Pres...

There might a shock about to come out for President as well.

If we're talking about the same person, I don't think it'll be much of a shock, he's been collecting names off people to help with his campaign already.

If he's been collecting names and it isn't a shock do you mind telling us who this mystery/non-mystery person is?

Not my announcement to make. And it's not absolutely 100% that it'll actually go forward.

Sorry, that sounded a bit snippy, didn't mean it to. If he does go for it, you'll know soon enough!

I'll be on Erasmus next year, but I presume this doesn't affect my right to choose next year's sabbats, right?

This thread will never reach the lolerific heights of previous years, but way reach the crappy lows of the previous thread for this year :(.

    Quick, someone say something con-traversal.

That's nice. I wonder if any 4th years would be tempted to run so that they have a job next year?!

Just an observation but comparing the "visibility" around campus of last years sabbats to the team this year I really haven't seen this year's gang around that much. I know they do trojan work but in terms of addressing classes and the like we just had the Ents guy a few times. I remember from last year there was far more public appeareances!

Also the serious lack of money around next year is gonna be a major headache for the newly elected team, making many campaign promises/priorities very unrealistic.

i'm sure you could change that.

And did I mention I was an idiot already?

I'd personally like to know if any candidate has fathered a bastard child! I know one pres candidate, Cathal Horan (boardusername:L eyeISpimping), who has fathered several as a result of drug fuel binges in the Wicklow mountains. Simone Coen (boardsusername: ghettoHoe69) in a recent interview with the record claimed "He's not my pimp he's my boyfriend". Cathal Horan is also know to dabble in both homosexuality and Satan worship.

Disclaimer: Names have been changed to protect the guilty and implicate the innocent.

I heard that each and all of the SU candidates love puppies and kittens and spend free time making daisy chains to give to oprhans. Thats when they aren't rescuing oppressed nations or telling tourists where the book of Kells is.

I've also heard some other things about them, but god forbid, I wouldn't the SU or EC to get all upset and come giving out to people here on boards.

Well I would, but I am sure that it would contravene EC rule 15, sub para 3 clause XVI.

Can't be having that now can we? ;)

If there's only one person running for Education, do they still have to campaign? Or can they expect to get in?

There is the option of Re-Open Nominations which is on the ballot with Ashley. But yeah, effectively they have it.

Of course. I certainly would hate to think that someone only got such a job just cos they were the only one who wanted it. You need to believe they will do a good job and all that.
Anyone know much about the Education guy?

Yeah and good at it too, hence why the other names that were being mentioned dropped out of the race a long time ago

  • Hosted Moderators Posts: 11,362 ✭✭✭✭Scarinae

So the campaigning has officially started - I saw a good few of the candidates out leafleting today. I have to say I was impressed that Ashley Cooke's team are visible around campus in their t-shirts, handing out leaflets - it would be really easy for him to assume that he'll get in, and not make much effort, I'd say a lot of people would do that if they effectively had no opponents except the Re-open nominations option.

Oh yeah, and I've been helping Cormac Cashman's team!

  • Moderators, Regional East Moderators Posts: 21,504 Mod ✭✭✭✭Agent Smith

I'm helping None of the campaigns,

Infact if i'm walking threw campus during the election (unlikely) I'll trip some of them up

Anyway. Onto the Predictions once again, Based on, essentially, Feck All....

    President: Daniel Curry

    Vice president: Rob Donohue

    Education: Ashley Cooke

    Welfare: Simone Cameron-Coen

    Ents: Mick Birmingham

Once again, These are based on nothing, But you heard it hear first folks.

Any websites/links to information on the candidates?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,764 ✭✭✭shay_562

Facebook groups seem to be the order of the day, except for Conan, whose website I found via a Facebook paid advert (in case the EC are reading and want to do some snooping for receipts and the like):

    Daniel Curry
    Cathal Horan
    Conan O'Broin

    Emma Keaveney

    Simone Cameron-Coen
    Cormac Cashman

    Ashley Cooke

    Mick Birmingham
    Amy Dunne
    Franziska Hensel
    Paddy O'Mahoney

Wasn't able to find anything for Rob Donohue (a little worrying for a Dep Pres candidate...), maybe someone on his campaign team can link that one?

It's a little disappointing, I already know who I'm voting for in all but the ENTS race, and I don't much care about that one.

And some fairly, eh, interesting ideas from Mr. Curry there.

Ashley Cooke and Cathal Horan are both studying TP, that's all I know... >.> Oh god it's true, TPs do stick to their own! *breaks down and runs away*

Cathal Horan is the only person I immediately had any regard for upon looking at their Facebook page. While I don't care any amount about the elections, I am irked by the prospect of a jock being in a position of even pseudo-power.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,881 ✭✭✭Kurtosis

Came across Conan's facebook page earlier. Must have slipped under shay's radar.

Ok, so she kinda looks like a vampire, but the welfare position is all about who you'd shag, so cormac you're out of luck boyo.

Is it just me are does this Curry guy look a) like a drug addict and b) like the type of smug bastard you wouldn't let mind you dog for fear he would rape it?

Cathal seems by far the most shagable and judging by his page, is a man of few words.

As for the conon chap, trust me when I say he looks like the son who was actually too stupid for the priesthood. So here's a picture of a better looking guy I found on his bebo page.

Simone told me this in confidence, so don't go spreading it around but, Emma has no personality and sleeps with random men to feel fullfilled in life.

    cooke_cropped_web.jpgdragon_lady_drawing.jpg
Ashley Cooke. It was hard finding an image for this one so here's an image of a random person with the same name and a drawing of a dragon lady, combine them. Basically this person has friends called fiachra and alexandra, making her pretty much the last person you'd want as education officer (after fiachra and alexandra themselves).

I think I read something in the papers about this mick chap abusing small children.

I'm a barbie girl in a barbie world, lets go party... Amy kinda look like a wannabe serial killer victim.

Fanzi actually has some energy to it, I like. Well done.

When you absolutely positively need to re-enforce stereotypes. there's paddy. Current studying "how to look like a duchbag" at trinity college Dublin, paddy aka "the pad mister" is hoping to win our vote by... erm ... ah... I'm not too sure.
