I remember listening to this old boy on the radio one day...

He said that when barrier free tolling system came on the M50 he took hump with the payment system

Instead of pre-paying or signing up for an account he sends NTR a cheque, reckons it costs them money to process it.

Now i overpay every bill, eircom, esb, bord gais, credit card by 1 cent, just to fark them off and make them work that little bit extra...

    What do you do?

    sorry

Costs 17c to process a cheque afaik. It could be higher, that's what I was told once.

I drive a moped and it only takes 6 litres of fuel. So I've often bought 5 euro worth of fuel with a credit card. With the percentage that retailers are charged by credit card companies I'd say the petrol station make feck all from my sale.
Now don't flame for using a credit card, with freezing hands even with gloves some days, using a credit card is far more convenient then fishing around for loose change.

So..for all the services you avail of, you want to make them work harder when they want you to pay for it?

    truly pathetic.

So you're just getting the civil service to take more of your tax money processing your extra payments?

Yeah, you're showing "The Man" ie you. That'll teach him/you.

Most of those examples involve taking vicariously from one git and giving vicariously to another bigger git.

think the person writing the cheque pays it, as i know you get a refund if you return unused cheques when you close an account

Not one of those examples is the civil service.

My mistake. But some of his tax money is propping up some of those companies. So what's the point?

As far as i understand ' the man' refers to a government or higher authority, i think corect me if im wrong but in say a school 'the man' would refer to the principle and just basicaly higher authorities

Another good way to cause administrative mayhem is to send a letter saying the usual "I enclose a cheque". Just put a staple in the top left-hand corner of the letter and post it.

With any luck, they'll spend all day looking for the missing cheque and at least one of them will get the sack for losing it. Wouldn't that be a hoot?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,957 ✭✭✭The Volt

    Do the aul chicken prank.

Get 3 live chickens, number them 1,2 and 4. Set them loose in the dail. How much work wont be done before they realize there's no number 3? =]

They'd decide that Lenihan was Number 3.

bringing down companies i hate through piracy. like EA. long story. Not only are they making fewer sales but dumping millions into DRM tech - which will always be hacked. Sometimes in weeks, but usually in a number of days.

I am sure karma will catch me someday though..

    <_<

    >_>

keep an eye out for me will ya?

This is what i get for posting after a couple glaaaaaaasses of wine.....

Well i reckon that someone somewhere in one of these state protected, unionised companies has to look at my bill and say " this dude has overpaid by 1 cent, this means i will have to hit F5 and send it up to a supervisor"

Thats what i'm hoping anyways, if that doesn't happen i may as well open the other bottle of Montepulciano

Yea, really screwing "the man" over there, firstly you pay for cheques yourself. Secondly, making a company work harder or for longer to sort out that extra 1c (I don't know how that works) You are screwing yourself and other customers over. Great job :)
