maybe you can all help me out here.

I just noticed this said on a thread but it's something over the last year two I keep hearing and it's always from deh ladies.

Personally I really miss being a teenager I'd give my left arm maybe even the right one to go back to been a teenager.

Most men I know (sill are teenagers mentally) or would love to go back to been one is this a male only thing? if it is why do women dislike their teenage years so much? is it the confusion or?

I think it's a strange question because I never disliked being a teenager, but I still much MUCH prefer being in my early twenties. You have your own money, your independence, what more could you want? You dont have to have terrible teenage years to not want to go back to those years. It's just a natural progression to move on, no?

I think the only people who miss being teenagers are people who still live with at home with their parents (which is men in general!) and people who dont want to grow up. Why do you want to be a teenager again?

Well I've lived away from home from a young age so it's not that :D

I also worked as a teenager so always had money and a lot of freedom.

I just think your teenage years are the best years of your life, you're young full of energy the world is your oyster you have very few worries (well i didn't)

There was no but what if this and have to do this you just did whatever you wanted to do why anyone wouldn't want that worry free freedom back i'll never know

    teenage years are awesome :D

I think I liked being a teenager while I was one, but I'd never want to go back. I've learned a ton since then and have become so much more secure in myself. I think people who want to go back to a certain age are frequently romanticizing things, which is easy enough to do. I dunno, I kinda just like the present.

but is those insecurities you felt as a teenager what stop you wanted to be in that situation again? that's what i was referring to as "confusion"

I was a very confident teenanger and I think personally men especially are more confident in there teeneage years and this decreases as they get older but women are awfully insecure during the teenage years but grow into much stronger confident people as they get older?

    maybe a sweeping generlisation?

this Echos my sentiments exactly, If i could stay 22/23 for a bit while longer, that would suit me.

I honnestly couldnt go back to being 18 and doing my leaving cert again!

only as long as i was dealt a different set of cards would i like to go back, if i was given the same hand as i was then the answer would be "fudge no!".

I think this is a big reason exams and college extra.

I decided from an early age that irelands education system wasn't going to add much value to me and decided to leave my place to someone who wanted it more than I did and decided to enjoy my younger years instead of worrying about leaving certs results etc

maybe i'm getting somewhere on the answer..

I don't know. To be honest, I'd be exchanging present stresses for ones that I had in my teenage years. The only upside would be structure and certainty in certain areas, such as what you are expected to do by others, eg teachers/parent/siblings etc.

I enjoyed my late teenage years, but am also much more secure in myself now than then. So I dont think I'd go back, but they were far from awful. I had a lot of fun actually.

    God no!
Spots, surging hormones, no one taking you seriously, living at home, no privacy, had no mobile or Internet ! Jesus wept, i think i'd die.

I see teenagers now and wonder if i grew up on another planet. We all had jobs, we all had chores round the house and on the farm. There was zero tolerance of back chat and one look from your Dad was enough to put the fear of God in you.

I was never the most popular in school, but i wasn't picked on either. I actually liked school, but couldn't wait to get out of the country and see what life was really like. Funny that, how you end up coming round full circle. I came back because as quiet as it may well be, there's alot to be said for peace.

So, no way i'd ever come back. If i could pick an age... i'd probably pick 21-25

I definitely wouldn't want to come back as a teenager today. That really is a frightening prospect.

Oh I'd hate to be a teenager again. I was so awkward and such a dork, could barely talk to guys, and was embarrassed/self concsious over everything. I have more confidence and am much happier now (mid 20s). ... Am still a dork though!

I'd hate to go back. Too many bad experiences, bullied to bits in school, slef-loathing. Not fun. :)

I wouldn't mind 16-18 the bit I hated was 18-23, best times were 24/25 and now really.
I wish I could back and give the younger me a bit of the confidence I've gained throughout the years.

    +1

The only reason i hated my teenage years was the fact i was shy and quiet and wasn't outgoing enough and i always played safe and never had confidence i was afraid of what other people thought of me.
As i've gotten older i care about what other people think less and less. If i could go back to the teenage me i would just tell myself get a better haircut and let go and enjoy yourself a bit more.

I'm female, 28, and I live with my folks. Not through choice mind, I am broke and I've a child and I'm in college so living on my own is just impossible.

I don't want to grow up, I have grown up, and I most certainly would not like to be a teenager again.

    If only! :)

I had almost reached my full 5''11' by the time I was fifteen, I had black hair and dark olive skin, I looked absolutely nothing like anyone else I knew, apart from my family, and I was desperately self conscious because of it. Teenagers just want to fit in.

I wouldn't want to be a teenager again, with the same insecurities - but if I could know then what I know now, then yes, in a heartbeat.
