Just wondering if anybody has any advice.

I imagine I may have to goto a physio but just wanted to see if anybody had any tips or stretchs before I did.

Basically been nack playing soccer the last 2 months. Played on Mondays and thurs mainly. Noticed my knees were feeling a little dodgy but nothing too disrupting. Odd time very bad.

Started playing on weds aswell and nearly collapsed last week. Got through half an hour and nearly collapsed (knees weak and sore). Afterwards it feels as though they are badly bruised under the kneecap (but no visible bruising).

Next day Im very stiff around the kneecaps. When Im lieing down and apply a bit of pressure (or try to massage under my kneecaps) its very sore.

Just wondering if its a simple case of bruised ligaments from over working them. Im overweight and have been trying hard to lose weight through excercise. I walk my dogs most days aswell but dont get involved in any other sort of physical activity.

I have only just started to get a decent level of fitness going so would hate to have to take a break!

Have you ever had knee problems before? As you mentioned the best advice would be to go see a physio or in my experience a decent Osteopath. When you do make sure( they will if they're any use) they have a look at the arches of your feet to make sure the problem isn't stemmng from there. Also if you havent already start taking Glucosamine, Chondroitin & cod liver (if you can stomach it which I myself cant) or Udo's choice which is a vegetable seed blend containing omega 3,6 & 9 and has similar benefits to cod liver oil.

In the mean time maybe lay off the extra day of football if it's too much and build up to it again in a few weeks and see how you feel after that. Try hot and cold treatment for your knees to get the circulation going and to reduce the swelling (http://www.usgyms.net/hot_vs_cold.htm). Also Ibuprofen tablets & voltrol do the trick for me when I'm in a bad way from training

    Hope this helps
