am 5'8 female weighing 84 kg- only 3kg weight loss in 6 months! I know i'm overweight- cut out most carbs 6 months ago, increased gym visits and intensity, did weights. Have probably dropped a size although measurements would be constant for last 6 months too- doesn't really make sense to me.

Currently training for 10k run so jog/run about 4 times a week, do weights twice a week- squat, deadlift, legpress, chest press, few other smallones.

Diet- porridge and fruit for breakfast, salad for lunch, meat/fish and veg for dinner- no processed food; snacks - fruit or nuts during day, yogurt.

I know muscle is heavier than fat but i really want to reduce my current weight and get rid of fat!
    help needed, thanks.

once the body is used to being a certain weight for any length of time it fights to stay at that weight as it percieves it to be normal. that's why you finding it hard to lose weight. a friend of mine was eating round about the same as you and aswel wasn't losing weight. the thing was she thought the portion size wasn't majorly important seeing as it was just fruit and veg she was eating.but portion size does matter. porridge should be max. 30g. don't over eat on fruit, they cause bloating aswell. just try cutting down your portions and see if that works because it sounds like your doing everything else you can. if that doesn't work.... you might just have to accept that you are the weight you are and altough the execise is increasing your fitness level... it won't make you thinner!

Question 1: What kind of fruit do you eat with your porridge (tinned or fresh)

Question 2: Do you have any dressing on your salads, like mayo ?

    Question 3:
    http://www.wellnessresources.com/thyroid_quiz.php

Do that & tell us what your score was.

Question 4: What kind of meat do you eat & whats the Ratio of Meat/Fish in your diet.

Question 5: Blood PH, A issue for you could be how acidic your blood is, if its too acidic you won't lose weight. Protein is acidic, So all meats are Acidic that means you want to eat them with Dark Green Veg ie. Spinach, broccoli, brussel sprouts or dark lettuces.

Question 6: What drinks to you drink, Just Water ?

weight isnt nessecarily wat u might want to drop - your body fat might be whats making you look 'fatter' for want of a better word.

your diet seems fairly ok, eat less over more meals tho perhaps - 5 meals a day.LOTS OF WATER

give high intensity interval running a shot. itll have much better effects on weight/fat loss than monotonous jogging for hours on end plus is very good for cardio

Would recommend you read Stu Mittleman's book:

some food for thought there- no pun intended!
    Nuravictus:
had thought about thyroid function but got it checked out and all normal, have fresh and dried fruit with breakfast, use small amounts of low fat mayo-, eat mostly chicken and fish , will have to research that blood thing a bit more, drink loads of water and some tea/coffee.

I suppose its not the actual weight that bothers me but that i'm still fat despite working hard! I can handle weight being in overweight BMI range if it was mostly muscle but its not.
Have done interval training before and doing bit more now for my 10k run so will see if makes a difference.

Change your workout plan because your body will get used to it if you do the same thing. You need to change it up every few weeks.

    How intense is your workout?
how many sets/reps do you do for your weights exercises?
    are the weights actually difficult?
