telsys wireless modem user limit

    Hello all,
    We have chorus broadband and a telsey wireless modem from an old magnet account to transmit the wireless signal. We've got 3 laptops and an xbox and it'll only let 2 devices at one time connect up. We rang chorus and they said it was nothing to do with them. Does anyone know anything about these telsey modems? From what I've seen they seem to be pretty standard but to only allow 2 users at one time seems a bit pointless

    Since Chorus didn't supply the router they wouldn't be able to provide any support. Also, if that's a DSL modem, then that's not really what you want to connect to cable broadband. You should get a proper router.

    Could be that it's just a crap router. Wifi routers generally allow several connections, though the speed will drop as you add more.

    You need a totally different kind of WiFi Router. ethernet / cable Router. Or called Cable/DSL.

    The point is it should have a special separate ethernet port (the Internet or WAN port) for the Modem. It then can act as NAT/Firewall/Router and WiFi.

    A DSL only (built in Modem for phone line) can only be recycled as a WiFi point if you already have a Router. The basic Cable connection is only a Modem to ethernet. It has no firewall/NAT/Router built in.

    Argos, Maplin, Dabs, Komplett. Sometimes even Tesco and PCWord/currys. If it has a DSL phone port it won't work.
