    Is that the same MarkN??!

He should buy a pair of stabilizers too if he wants a Porsche...:D

This happens a bit, when someone is trying to "demonstrate" (show off) the capabilities of a car to a potential customer...

I was buying a car one time and there was a 2 or 3 year old black M3 BMW down the back of the car yard, with what looked like a lamp post dent going right through the boot as far as the back seat! I asked guy who was valeting the cars, he said the owner was trying to sell it, so he let this guy open it up on a test drive on the M50, he was coming up the off ramp and managed to spin it and go backwards into a lamp post! It was a miracle that they both walked away from it.

    Thats harsh :P!

I'd say a quattro is looking to be a good option now though!:pac:

Edit: good that neither of them was seriously hurt, cars can be replaced and all that.

I was wondering why the thread was closed...

Would have been funny if he bought it on Mastercard!!!

Me too. Maybe i'm having a blonde moment, though, but why would this lead to the deletion of the other thread?

This could of happened around the time it was closed. I remember him saying something like "I have a good reason why" etc. etc. and i'm assuming this was his reason. Worst thing about having your name and your username the same, and everyone knowing your occupation.

To stop the *insert tabloid name* from making up an elaborate backstory?

It'd make perfect sense to delete the thread if MarkN was driving, but he wasn't. I mean, even we couldn't blame him for that.

While the OP probably didn't intend it in this light I don't find it humorous at all to be honest.

Irrespective of who owns or was driving the car, people were injured and given the current climate someone is probably now out of a job too.

Well i'm presuming, which is the worst thing you can do in life lol. Although saying that, if it was me i'd do likewise.

I think it was deleted because of the thread title rather than the content of the article. I think the OP was also issued a ban.

He's talking about the other thread on the topic I presume, not the other thread that we were talking about.

Peasant deleted one about 1 hour ago about this topic of MarkN and the other lad crashing the car. The OP referred to the two lads in a less than civil manner.

hi lads - cheers for the messages.

Yes it was me in the Porsche. Very scary experience all in all, I've some injuries that the papers didn't go into but I'm extremely lucky when you look at pictures of the car.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 22,815 ✭✭✭✭Anan1

Sounds like, good to hear you're basically ok.

Jaysis Mark sounds like you were lucky. I didn't realise it was you when I posted this, I wouldn't have if I'd known :o

Glad to hear that you're ok though. What was the car like before ye binned it?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,321 ✭✭✭MarkN

It wouldn't put me off Porsches no, it was extremely shocking though. Being upside down, going sideways in a car with an airbag shoved in your face does not feel natural.

To "walk away" from what I did says a lot about the strength of the car and that's what I mean by it wouldn't put me off.

It's taken me a lot of backspaces to get the spelling right in this with one hand so i can't do huge posts, I also want to keep my head down as it's out of my hands now so I apologise in advance that I won't be saying much more.

Just be careful on cold mornings lads that's all I'll say, mind yourselves behind the wheel.

I can imagine how scary that would be. I went for a test drive in a porsche with this dealership and to be honest the guy scared the hell out of me on the test drive and I was glad to get my turn so things could calm down a little.

To be honest the reason I did not buy the car was becasue I was wondering how many times the car was rallied this way.

Glad you are still good Mark

Mark glad to hear you are alright, shame about the accident, I hope it wont dent your enthusiasm for the cars any. I think though if you had stayed with the BMW you would had benefited from the superior grip, traction and road holding of that greatest of cars :P.....but seriously speedy recovery..

Good man Mark. Pay attention to your back, neck and any other strange pains and niggles you experience. It took me well over a year to get back to normal after my roll-over, with weird aches cropping up all the time....all related to the musculo/skeletal trauma of the accident. There's no doubt in my mind you'll be hurting for a fair while after this one - Don't discount anything that comes up, as it could easily get worse with far greater consequences than just a bit of a sprain etc.

All the best and a good recovery to you mate,

    Gil
