Looking to get some .5kg plates or similar (anything under 1.25kg I suppose) but can't find anything on eBay that would fit an olympic bar. Any advice?

    Try this place.

A bit on the expensive side.

Today is the last day of the ironwoody sale. Was thinking of getting bands before.

Somebody had a link to a german site last week or so for small oly plates.

Just make your own. They're far cheaper and you can make any size you want. I made mine from ziplock bags filled with gravel, covered in duct tape and with a little loop of string for putting over the bar. Total cost for a set of 0.5kg and 0.25kg bags was about 10 euro though I've loads of bags and tape left so I can make more if needs be.

You'll get looked at in the gym because you're the weird guy who puts little grey bags on the bar but at least your lifts will go up.

Better that than $50 + shipping! Guess it's home-made for now unless anyone has any more suggestions.

Thanks for the input so far.

I looked at the link for the german website but unfortunetly the cost was 25 plus 35 for P&P.

Those hand/ankle weights are a good idea. Some just use extra collars.

Some online store should sell empty plastic ones and let you fill them with sand/cement yourself, would save on shipping. I think york do some dodgy dumbbells you fill with water now!

i paid 25 plus 12ish for posting. They are excellent quality and will last for ever , but you should be able to pick up 1.25, 2.5 and 5kg plates in a lot of places

I thought Irish lifting would have them by now. Seems most people into microplates are into lifting properly, so have oly sets. Its a shame since there most be literally tons of small 1" plates knocking around. They could be drilled out if you had access to the equipment.

Would not be just as easy to tie a piece of string around the old 1" disc's and hang that off the bar?...assuming of course you have access to old 1" plates.

Think argos sell a dumbell set with micro weights (.5, 1.25, 2.5), I know they used to anyway, fairly cheap too iirc
