Might be alright but far too expensive. €449 for 77kg of steel, €5.80 per kilo.

Similar sort of things discussed here.

I expect proper oly ones would be better, and way cheaper.

For that price you could get -
    140 KG Olympic Set - E289.99
    2 x Dumbell Handles - E100

And still have E60 left in your pocket if you wanted to buy more plates. I think delivery is free if you spend around that much too.

Way, way too much money. Especially considering it only goes to 32.5 KG per dumbell.

Bought a set last month. They go up to 32.5 kgs and the rack comes free. Thought they were pretty good value as I was looking at the Bowflex version and that was 450 for up to only 20 kg and rack was another 300 euro.I dont have much room so they save alot of space.
Also avoids having dumbells lying all over the place.

I know they are expensive compared to regular dumbbells but to say I'm tight on space is an under statement (one bed flat) so they look perfect for me. I'm just waiting on them to come in stock, hopefully this week.

The 140 kg set doesn't have enough plates to make 2 matching dumbell sets. Only 2 sizes have 4 plates(1.25 and 5kg) So you'll need more money for more plates

How do they feel? are they very secure? and are they evenly weighted, i.e. the big bit at the top.

Or just get the 2 dumbells for €100, the other kit has 77kg of steel, those oly dumbbells are 6kg each, so you are 63kg short. 63kg of small oly plates is €126, so €226 all in.

Actually I think the 77kg includes the stand so really 65kg of weights, so 2 bars and 53kg of plates is the same.

    .....

    .....

How much do you earn? (Rhetorical).

Seriously €450 is just insane for a set of dumbells. Get yourself to argos and you can get dumbell bars + plates for €100.

The argos york bar is only 5ft which is not too big. However I think all of argos's prices took a big jump 2 days ago. Could be cheaper on www.irish-lifting.com now for standard stuff. He used to do a 50kg standard set dunno why he stopped, might bring it back now argos have upped their price.

Well I got those dumbbells yesterday, although they are expensive for the weight, they are great. They go from 5kg each to 32.5kg each. Saves having weights lying around on the floor and when I want to change from 17.5kg bench press to 10kg curls etc it only takes a second compared to changing regular dumbbells.

I have no idea how these work..

When you press the buttom does it reduce the effect of gravity, thus making it lighter? If so i might as well throw my physics book out the window :p

Seriously though, how do they work? :S

Of buy them up and sell them to NASA!

In the picture they look sort of like horse shoes, I expect the weights just fall off when you press the button, rather than loading on at the sides you put them on from the bottom.

Well here's the dumbbell on the stand with all the weights. You turn the dial to the weight that you want. The weights are shaped like horseshoes as someone mentioned.

I selected 12.5 here and lifted it off the stand.

Here is the weights not used still on the stand.

Just wondering could anybody help me, purchased the ez selective dumbells in march 2011, they are brilliant even if they are a bit expensive but this evening the black dial on the end has came loose and is now allowing the weights come off one side. The black dial is only loose and will not come off all together, has anyone experienced any problems like this and is there any way of repairing??? Any help will be appreciated

Problem solved, In case it happens anybody in the future. There is a cover on the end of the black dials but it looks like it can't be taken off, I removed this and found a large allen key head bolt, this bolt had came loose so tightened and everything back to normal....Happy days:D
