Just back .Toulouse is a good cycling city.
The cycle stations are everywhere. The bikes have three gears and the lights are on permanently as you cycle.Big basket at the front and a decent lock with removeable key.
They cost: First half an hour Free, second half an hour 50 cent.It is one euro an hour after that,They are available to take from 05 30am until 2am.The locals use a Octupus card.I used a laser card and they take a 150 euro deposit and away you go.The wording was only in French and you need to scan down through the conditions and the usual other stuff, your pin etc.The screen is built into the reverse side of the advertising signs as well as a street map.
You pick a bike no. (1-16) and then take that bike out.It is magnetic based.
They are so handy I can see a lot of people getting off the bus early and cycling the last 10/20 mins to work or whatever.Overall the bikes are brilliant.:D

    Weird. In Paris, it's 24/7.

Anyway, be careful using the word 'deposit' lol you may scare people. It's just an authorisation to take that sum from you account, should you not bring the bike back. :pac:

these bikes will be here soon. i was preparing a map last week for the DCC planners meeting with JC decaux in regards to the locations of the cycle depots.

alot more than i thought there was gona be, something like 43 locations around the city centre between the two canals.

only problem is how long they will last when you consider theft, damage and general wear and tear.

    you were?

was indeed, benefits of working in Dublin City Council.
im just the bottom of the food chain technician, we make the plans and site location maps for them! :D

i could show you, but it went in last week for some big meeting that the locations were going to be finialised or moved about.

DCC done some deal with JC Decaux in exchange for them big advertising structures you see around.
