Ode on Footpath-try to guess what it refers to:D

Look at it, always there when a man needs its cure,
so permanent yet always fluctuating but forever pure.
Be it marble or simple cement we do not care too much,
for in every man's will, there's a descent from glance to touch.
The size of extreme, of maximum and minimum, is what matters,
for a footpath too long or too short no one caters.
So we hail thee, and enjoy the view you kindly grant us,
your footpath on which many like to trespass.

We share squeals of joy if we are to enjoy its view,
contrasting ideas of beauty and greed are all new,
yet it is its power that draws us near and wills us on,
for the footpath many a bard composed a song.
The brilliance of its secrecy tucked away in a cloth
when eyes only wonder upon what the mind sought.
To walk upon it, to feel the civilizations progress
as all rational thought begins to egress
is like a dream of a night forever young come true,
the footpath I glance upon when i walk behind you.

It is taken for granted, one assumes, for its presence,
but what if it were just a prelude of some sixth sense,
for you see I value it for its firmness of art,
and the sounds it makes when hit by bodily part.
It's touch, forever forbidden, yet open to share.
It's clutch, forever forbidden, yet so fair.
Men see that footpath they're blood pressure rises,
almost like an armed attack in times of crises
thus let us renounce the new law prohibiting a crime
that for seeing a footpath without noting will result in a fine.
As John Keats would say, 'beauty is truth, truth beauty that is all you need to know',
as of today i proclaim it my duty, to walk behind you real slow.

Sorry op i found your piece very confusing , perhaps you should look at condensing it a fraction . I felt you were picking some words at random just to rhyme and it came across as childish, im not trying to discourage you here by the way. I applaud your courage in trying to write , but i suggest you take your time over your next stint and reread it first . There were some very unnecessary lines in this last piece. Good luck in the future though.

Also, just a technicality (sp?), "be it marble or simple cement". I think you actually mean concrete, common enough error. Cement is just one of the constituents that makes up a 'concrete' footpath; cement, sand, gravel and water being the basics. A cement footpath wouldn't be much of a footpath; more like a noxious, carcinogenic dirt trail, that wouldn't be worth a bollox in a slight breeze!

I'm guessing your about 16/17 due to the immaturity of your posts , so il refrain from telling you how stupid you come across.(:D) by the way in case you don't get it the smiley face is supposed to be sarcastic.

I enjoyed this poem very much I must say. To me this poem signifies that beautiful view which we can all enjoy each day. Strolling back to class mayhaps, after a quick trip to the window... Do, sir, stop me if I ramble.

man my post was also being sarcastic, with a smiley at the end:D but do sir, in this discussion about a poem to which, correct me if i'm wrong, you havent contributed one bit, do tell me about the immaturity of my posts. I must say this is what was my aim all the time, for someone to be as nice and tell me:D

    btw yeah 17:cool:

    (was that mature enough language?:D)

MagicASS, I find it ever so awesome that you are posting on the thread for this particular poem. The irony will not be lost on Mario, I can ASSure.
It is unfortunate that I must inform you that you are incorrect in you ASSumptions. If you would like for Mario and me to prove this you, please, set down the perameters and I'm sure we could oblige :D

wow tell me mr magicass do you never reply to comments using their language? Hmm? you asked me to be more mature and i wrote a comment back with good old english syntax, does that mean we're also the same profile?

btw this situation is really ridiculous sire, do i seem like i care much about your opinions? no! then why the hell would i set up a different profile

oh and wait sukikettle didn't find my poem bad, and he spells rainbow just like i would so he's definatelly the same person as me...

i love you mr ass, i really do, without you who else would i get to annoy with an innocent piece of poetry:D

To be also noted; were I not having fun, and intentionaly being verbose and obtuse in my expressions, you would undoubtedly note the intrinsicly Irish slang that I would use. Mar shampla; "Shur," "like," "feck," "craic," is airile. Or, to be more transparent; actual Irish eg: "mar shampla" and "is airile" etc. I can ASSure you that my Slovakian is not even in the region of my friend's here. And if you search carefully, you may just notice the difference in accent...

It indicates that this is a account set up exclusively to agree with mario007, im not frowning on it as it happens all the time. Im not against you by the way but it is a bit transparent.

As you can see by the use of "lads" though, not all of our phrases have not rubbed off on my friend here. Presumably if this thread were in German we would have the same problem, we're pretty even on that one.

well there's been four replies to the actual poem so far, three for it and one against it, and the other three pages are all about that one post that is against it and will do the neccessary to get his way:D

so yeah...jury's still out on that one:D

thats true, we had this bet at school to write an ode on the footpath(still can't reveal what it actually is) and so after we all laughed at our poems, i decided to put it here to see how many people take their lives too seriously, and ASS the answer turns out to be: one:cool::D
