Fourth boards.ie kit order - Order by 16 Feb 08

I'm going to start putting together another order. For the uninitiated, here's the procedure that's evolved over the last couple of orders:

We have a boards.ie cycling clothing design, which you can see here: Boards Jersey. Details of the garments available, prices and size guide are available on the manufacturer's web site: http://www.fcarvalho-ciclismo.com/clo/index.php. Note that the prices exclude VAT and that there is a surcharge for orders of less than 10 of any item.

I will keep this post updated with the running total of items ordered and the status of the order.

To order, send me a PM listing the items, sizes and quantities you want. You can work out the prices from the website but I think that its best to assume that less than 5 of each item will be ordered. I'll work out the price once I get your order. The amount will consist of the base price,VAT, shipping, PayPal surcharge and postage if you want the items posted to you. When I've received payment, you can send me a cheque or paypal , I'll send off the order.

We'll organize where you can collect the stuff nearer the time, but it will certainly be somewhere in Dublin. If you live outside Dublin and want to have the kit posted to you, let me know when you place your order.

If you want to try on some items for size we can try to arrange that. Just pm me and we;ll start a thread if required.

    CURRENT ORDER QUANTITIES:

    Bib shorts x 4
    Training jacket x 1
    Short Sleeve Jersey x 2
Long Sleeve Tops - 1 fullzip
    Long Sleeve Tops - 1 1/4zip

    CURRENT ORDER STATUS:

Gathering orders - Plan to Order 16 Feb 08

Thanks to rogerb for his last order post I copied it almost verbatim here

We should send them a group photo from the next big cycle for their client page.

I might be in the market for a training jacket, will get back to you.

Cheers, this reminded me to pick up my stuff from the last order.

I probably want one jersey but i am not sure about the sizing. Is it on the loose side or more on the fit? I am slim and tall and i am not sure now :D

I'm slim and tall and I got a small. It's a little snug, but then I got a medium in a subsequent order and it was too big.

I still have the small so you can try it on if you wish.

    Sizing can be an issue.

Just a queary. Can we specify the waist and chest size that we want. On the last order I used their sizing chart, but the winter training top I got was too small on the waist and too big on the chest. Given that they are effectively a bespoke kit run, then this should not be an issue (in theory).

Anyway, anyone out there (Dublin based) with an xxl short sleeve that they wouldn't mind me trying on for size?

    PM'd you scott

Hopefully the sizing is as they say.

    Cheers Scott for organising :)

    Hi Scott,

We are very pleased to hear that you will be placing another order with us. We do have a few issues with sizing that we have been working out. I can definitely send you some samples though just let me know what you would like to see and in what sizes and I will get them posted to you. I apologize for the inconvenience on this.

    Many thanks,
    Nicole

Looks like I can get some sample sizes sent over for people to try. They, as much as the boards guys, want to get their kit out their.

I don't think it works like that, as far as I know they print on standard kit from Cofides, it's not like they are tailoring the stuff for you :D

They do custom sizing at no extra cost, it just makes it messy for the organiser!

So we could all measure ourselves (we could have a measuring day where we measure each other. exciting) and send the detailed measurements for custom fitted clothing !! That sounds good to me!

did I imagine that some of the boards jerseys have zipped pockets at the back? they are very cool

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 461 ✭✭NeilMcEoigheann

hey seriously do the tops have zips on the back pockets?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,676 ✭✭✭Gavin

The training jackets do, the jerseys have open pockets

Might be worth sticking a post across on the tri board too.. might get a few takers.

    (warning, 10,000th post waffle)

    Howdy folks,

I've only been posting on boards.ie for a good few years and well, I suppose 10,000 posts is a bit of a milestone. So since I've found in the past year that instead of looking at a few forums and then looking/posting on the cycling forum, I've found myself coming solely to the cycling forum and then going from there.

Since I wouldn't mind 'giving something back' to the enjoyment I've got from boards.ie, and this forum is the one which I'm enjoying the most, I thought I'd put the two together. So, having checked with the mods of the cycling forum, I'm looking to organise a small raffle of everyone who posts in this thread. The prize is that I'll contribute €100 to the cost of their boards.ie kit order, and I'll put a closing date of 23:59 on the 14th February 2009 (not 2008!) on it so that there's enough time for that person to place their order. The winner of course gets to choose what they want from the cycling kit on offer in the first post.

So that's it. Only one post counts, so there's no point spamming the thread since that'll only enter you once.

    Um, as you were.

    Nice gesture, Myth.

I'll order a rain jacket please. Does anyone have one and, if so, how is the sizing? I'm a 40" chest.

EDIT: Just realised I'm supposed to PM. Sorry...

They do have zips on the training jackets but I find that they don't fit a whole lot.

I'm getting samples sent over -- I think that back pocket is great for phone / camera key etc. Stuff which you don't want to lose accidently.

will you bring them to a boards spin, or something so we can try sizes, i want a training jacket, but would prefer if it fits well.

Some of the stuff they have are really good prices actually.
    Water proof socks - 7.45

    Seriously cheap compared to Sealskinz

    They do buffs for 6.10

Raam,do you mind me asking your chest size. Trying to get a handle on the sizing from people that have actually had the kit on. I've read through a few threads from previous orders but the more I read the more I'm confused about the fit of the tops. Thanks.

I'm not sure to be honest, and I've no tape measure to check. However, if you are in Dublin then you are welcome to arrange to try on the Boards jerseys that I have. My training jacket is medium and my short sleeved jersey is small. I had a medium long sleeve jersey, but it was massive so I sold it.

Cheers for that Raam. Think I'd only rip the small top like Bruce Banner getting angry.:D I'd measure a 40" chest so I might just gamble on the Large going by their sizing chart.

Found my tape measure. I'm 35".

So by that I'd reckon their sizing chart is fairly accurate so,seeing that the medium(38") was too big on you. Thanks again.;)

Just to be clear: the medium jacket fits perfect, but the medium jersey was too big. I dunno if they have sorted that out though as I assume it was not by design.

Hmmm, strange one that. I know I've had similar issues but that was with different brands of clothing.

It's a downhill jersey! No way, sorry Tiny, but that's a bike too far.

I want to place an order but not sure as to what I should buy. Are we looking at bib shorts, s/s top and a jacket as a minimum for rides? Or should I go for bib tights? Then again, how about a tri-suit?! Decisions, decisions...

I think I'd buy two or three pairs of those socks. Will check and then PM scottreynolds. We need 12 for custom colours.

I assume that there's a difference between them and sealskinz since they're called "water-blockers", not water proof?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,883 ✭✭✭Ghost Rider

I'll join you and get a couple of pairs myself. That brings us up to four or five.

Folks, if anyone has ordered the Training Jacket in XXL size, then I would be happy to give you mine at a knock down price. Never worn, just tried on.
    Dont fit me.
Would fit a bloke/girl around 5'11" tall with 38" waist.
I am 5'8" so it is way too big for me.

    Just pm and its yours.

Bit of a random question - does anybody know how long the jerseys are? I'm fairly skinny but with a ridiculously long back, and I'm sick of buying gear which is too short!

If anybody has a small (or even medium) jersey, a tape measure and a chance to measure the torso length (base of collar to bottom hem or something) I'd really really appreciate it!

If you wear bibshorts, jerseys which are a shade too short won't be an issue for you.

Thought of that, but I only have normal shorts at the moment, no bibshorts yet. Although I suppose its only a matter of time, gear buying does seem to be a chronic condition!

Bibshorts are much more comfortable, although not as practical for natural breaks. :)

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 292 ✭✭StudentC

True, although being a girl, natural breaks are generally impractical regardless of shorts-type :o

Assumed you were a bloke. In that case, I dunno what the story is for ladies bibshorts. I have a small jersey, so I'll measure it this eve.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 292 ✭✭StudentC

No worries - that's what happens with the anonymity of boards!

That'd be great if you could measure it, thanks.

I don't wear bib shorts for this reason, totally impractical for this as would require removal of jersey. Other female posters may disagree or have some tips on this matter ...
