Hey there, I'm 16 and have been slowly putting on weight over the past year. I'm about 5"4 and weigh 12 stone.

I want to lose my belly and those moobs that are growing on me! I've tried since Christmas to just cut out junk food, drink water plenty and eat my dinner. I'm going to be regularly exercising soon, too. I've only managed to shed 2 pounds though so far:confused:

    Any tips guys?

Lash up a sample of your meals for the day and we'll take a look...

You need to get exercising though, start small and work your way up. Try running / walking for 20 minutes a day. Run for as long as you can, then walk till you catch you breath again and then run again..

2 Pounds aint too bad at all, its a good start!.

Yep, I read some of the stickies here and found a great tip. Cut bread out of your diet, its worked wonders for me.

And take up some regular exercise. Since christmas I've lost 2.5 kilo's :D

For breakfast, I usually have a bowl of cereal. Whatever is there really!

Lunch in school, I have a sandwich but it's always different. Peanut butter one day, cheese the next!

Dinner is always different, but I doubt it has a low fat percentage, lol.

I usually have a bowl of pasta or something every night, just as an evening thing. I drink water plenty throughout the day!

Could you help make me one? It's shocking atm!!

    Thanks very much man:)

My main problem is my mother. She doesn't really support me as she sees no need for me to lose weight. I hide it well though, but I want to shed it so I don't always have to hold my stomach in or change my posture to hide it!:P

Ok this doesnt have to be forever just till you get to your ideal/look. Kid- For gods sake no more pasta-its loaded with carbs and your body can only burn so many at a time, the rest is stored as body fat! Lose the cereal-anything out of a box is bad-unless its porridge using skimmed milk its loaded with crap-yes especially special k!
Your lunch is bad- Use wholemeal brown bread not white- and use fillings like tuna, chicken, sweetcorn etc- i dont use butter if theres tuna on it! Cant taste it sure! Start with that its all about calories in vs calories out so a bit of exercise will help burn 1 or 2 hundred calories and help you on your way!

If your mother is against your weight loss it can be difficult, but you are a teenager so can be a bit rebellious.

Do you think she'd let you put up a pull up bar somewhere? They're quite cheap and the argos ones will suffice.

What about a sport? If you're in Dublin there's a great range of Martial arts clubs with teenage divisions (I'm in Martial arts so that's what I know). GAA season is starting up against if I'm guessing correctly, so they'd probably be looking for new members as well. Starting a sport might be more acceptable to your mam.

If you can, cut out the bread entirely. Any chance you could eat an egg or two for breakfast instead of the cereal? Basically you want to reduce your carb intake (bread/pasta/chips/potatoes) and increase your protein intake (meat, essentially)

If you need any more advice feel free to ask.

Thanks buddy. Yeah she jsut says I look skinny enough (I don't agree, my thighs and stomach are in big neough shape at the moment) to be on a diet. I'll probably post a picture up later;)

What're the benefits of pull-up bars? So much tripe on Google, I'd rather an answer from someone who knows what they're talking about! I'm in Cork; I did martial arts for a while (TKD for 2 years, Wushu for a few months) and I'll hopefully go back soon. I don't mind playing the odd game of soccer either, it's great fun. What puts me off is the whole joining a team part of it:p

I'll start having eggs so, I love them sure! What would you recommend for an average dinner? I'll be on my way to a healthy lifestyle soon:)
