LiftingLarge.com would be your only man for this stuff. I've bought a few things off them (not knee wraps though, belt, singlet etc) and they are about the best in terms of delivery time and not taking the piss on delivery charges. The likes of elitefts.com and inzernet.com charge a crazy amount to deliver to Ireland.

Unless you're looking for a specific brand they don't stock I'd highly recommend them.

Oh and for chalk. I have to say 53 degrees north (is that the right name?) up in the Blanchardstown retail park (next to TK Maxx, Atlantic Homecare etc) sell liquid chalk. €9 a bottle and it's epic stuff. No mess and it doesn't seem to rub off your hands as easily as regular chalk. I get 6 months out of a bottle.

Hanely would know more but I quite liked the inzer true blacks, you can get good pop off them even if they're not wrapped supertight - unlike titan thps imo.

I got them off irongladiators.com (also got my lever belt there). Don't forget to get the correct length depending on which fed you'll be in.

I got chalk in an outdoors shop on liffey street in dublin city centre, the shop sounds like the great outdoors, but is not it! Was cheap for a big tub, they also had liquid chalk. I think this is just a mixture of chalk and alcohol, you could make your own if you had strong alcohol.

Couldn't measure it in kilos but in terms of grip and confidence its huge. It feels like you are welded to the bar.

i got a belt and singlet, and got wrist wraps and straps free
    belt: http://www.prowriststraps.com/inc/sdetail/87172

total cost was $111 , which was around E80 -i used the discount code "2FREE" for 20% off and the free wraps and straps (the shipping was $30, included in the $111)

I ordered on christmas eve, so it wasnt shipped until dec.29, i think i got it on jan 6

It is quality stuff too, the belt is great for squats, havent done deads in it yet, and the owner was really helpful with sizing and stuff like that

Hmm what belt did you get...? I need to get a new one.

I wantd to get wrist wraps and new knee wraps too so I might actually do it off them because they (Alan is it?) seem to give a lot back to the sport.

the belt i got is in the link i posted above

yeah, alan is the owner, ive seen they sponser a lot of competitions and athletes too, i think their wrist and knee wraps are pretty popular - they sell them wholesale and a lot of other companies sell them, without the apt logo

the wraps are the first pair ive used, so i cant really compare, but they give great support

Hanely you should have negoatiated a sponsership deal with someone by now..esp with the amount of time you lift abroad...

Man... I'm blind. Sorry!! Looks like a nice belt. I was looking at the first couple of ones listed on the page. Depending on the construction of the 13mm one I MIGHT get it. Probably prefer to stick with 10mm if I can.

    What wraps did you get??

I have a pair of Convict knee wraps and i don't like them at all. They're too stiff. I prefer a stretchy wrap. I might mail alan and ask him what the closest to Inzer True Blacks are. Could be the strangulators.

Haha yeah I probably should have... who'd sponsor me tho???

yeah, the belt is pretty bulky, ive only ever used a cheap belt before, and i used to fall forward a lot in squats, but now i can really push out against the belt, its really solid

i got the strangulator writ wraps, they are definately stretchy enough, from my experience alan would be more than happy to help you pick out whats best for you

Hanley this reminded me of this Q&A log over on elitefts.

Gives a good rundown of what a company might look for in a sponsorship candidate. Good guidleines for drawing up your powerlifting CV if you like.

American companies love the whole "Go gettem!" entrepeneurial spirit side of things so putting together one of these and getting it off to as many companies as you can think of would be a good idea matey.

There's a link at the bottom of the above page to elitefts sponsorship page. That would be frekkin sweet one to get!

    Thanks lads.

I might have a bit of a look into it. If anyone can think of people willing to sponsor a fat powerlifter, let me know!
