Hey guys, just a heads up on cheap tubes (but good quality) I just came across...the Continental Race 28 (Road) for €2.40 (Usually €4-€8) & Continental MTB 26 €3.80 (Usually €5.50 -€9)

I just ordered a load of them...as I've had great experiences with them always (maybe it was the tyres?!?). I also picked up a dirt cheap Park Levers & Patches (way cheaper than CRC) and some nice Sidi stickers for a €1

P.S. Have a look here at the 5 pack of 60mm versions. I know they are out of stock, but it says €4.40 for the five!!! Thats 88c for a tube. Maybe it's a mistake, but I'm waiting for them to come back into stock to find out! I'd buy all they had of them at this price! :D

HEY GUYS!!!! THEY ARE BACK IN STOCK!!!:eek::eek::D:D:D

Buy one tube and its €4.57...buy the 5 pack of tubes and its also €4.57. I bought 2 lots of them there and I had pre-ordered a pack when they were out of stock! I'm just hoping they don't realise the pricing mistake and insist on me paying €60!!! By posting this here, they are guaranteed to sell out quickly, so maybe they will notice something is up. Sending out crates of tubes isn't normal! hehe :D

I was thinking of keeping this secret to myself bet hey, I'll risk the good value so ye can be in with a chance to grab some while they are still around! I'm sure it won't be for long though! Good luck! ;)

P.S. I hope we all aren't forced to pay the correct price...can they do this?

If the price is wrong they will cancel your order and refund any money taken to your credit card, i am sure its written somewhere in the terms and conditions. Good luck though!

@Home: Ballyhoura ... Thanks for that ... I am going to chance my arm in the hope that they miss a few orders before them cop on ...

Ya, I read the "Pricing" Section of the terms and conditions and I quote them:
    PRICING:
While we do our best to ensure prices are up to date and correct, errors may occur and in this case you will be contacted before your order is shipped.

What's the difference between 42mm Presta and 60mm Presta?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,702 ✭✭✭Home:Ballyhoura

The valve is longer: the 42mm barely protrudes from the rim, and may be too short for some rims. The 60mm is better in my opinion! You have a decent bit of valve showing!

Its the valve length. 42mm is a fairly standard size. 60mm for deep rims.

    legend H:B.

Is this a glaring oversight by CRC or just a good deal?

EDIT:Crap they are listed as out of stock now. If you order them anyway do they have to honour the original contract?

Ignore my last post, managed to get the last 3 in stock...hope this works!

I seem to be getting the last of everthing in stock this week :D

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,702 ✭✭✭Home:Ballyhoura

Lads, I'd say we got the last of them! I was the person who bought the "Also Purcahsed: SRAM Powerlinks" so there weren't many buyers other than us! Lets keep it quiet for the moment and see if we get away with it! Hehe :D

    This should be interesting....

How much did we pay for ours? Pretty good price iirc

I think it was a bit under €2.50/tube. £40 for 20 tubes but sterling was a bit higher then, came out at just under €50. Quality tubes too.

Could you put a linky up for these ones .. ?

My order for the recession buster tubes has been processed by CRC ... but wouldn't mind having a look at what meets the approval of the cash loaded weight weenies ... :D

60mm are a bit long all right ..... but I need 50mm anyways ... and can't argue at that price ... moreover I wanted to see what CRC would do ...

    Woohoo, order dispatched!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,995 ✭✭✭✭blorg

Ours were from eBay and the seller ended up sending them unboxed which was a bit annoying but there was also a 20-pack from Shinybikes (price has gone up, was in the region of £30 when I last looked.)

You must be planning on getting a fair few punctures over the coming months aye;)

  • Banned (with Prison Access) Posts: 31,117 ✭✭✭✭snubbleste

I ordered the 5pk on Monday and received the one-pack version in the post this morning. :( What do I do, did anyone else get their 5pk?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,509 ✭✭✭✭DirkVoodoo

I have 10 packs of tubes sitting in front of me that I got for friends. I have 5 at home for me and ordered another 3 sets yesterday.

I always carry one in my backpack and sometimes when I see someone with a puncture I ask them do they have a tube. At 90c a pop I'm probably more likely to do this now.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 730 ✭✭✭short circuit

Got them delivered today morning ....

Got to say ... can't beat CRC delivery ... quick off the ball ..

And I can confirm, I was only charged £3.99 ... as that's what the invoice with the package states.

Ah well, out of stock again. I got 3 boxes, so hopefully they will keep me going for quite a while.

I would say its still typo ... and they either haven't copped onto it ... or are still honouring it as they still make money on it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,702 ✭✭✭Home:Ballyhoura

Yes, mine were delivered today also! 15 tubes for €13.38 (should have been €60) and they cost €8, in my LBS (adds up to €120) a rip off!

That was class value I have to say. Glad to see that some of my fellow irish roadies got the bargain too as a result of this forum. Wow, the benefits of the internet! :D Happy days

Crap my order is still processing.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,995 ✭✭✭✭blorg

They just fixed it on the site lads, the 5-pack is up to £16.99 now. Good luck to anyone who is still "processing" :D I could not bear the extra fraction of a gram involved going from 42 to 60mm myself, no matter what the price.

Mine is stuck on processing but they probably made money on these.

Went on yesterday morning to buy the tubes and 60Euro later I had to stop adding things so I could leave for work without being too late.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,278 ✭✭✭kenmc

My 5 arrived this morning, 3.99 invoice enclosed.
    Score :)
edit: current price back up to £16.99 for 5!

Thanks op for the heads up!

yeah - couple of grams vs couple of euro.... I know which I'd rather save.

Hi, I've seen this "op" mentioned a few times before...what does it mean? I presume it is something like original poster or something, although I could be wrong!
    kenmc wrote: »

Ya, me too! I have a couple of both and the average weight of the 42mm is 100g and the 60mm is 105g! Just 5 grams...nothing to be complaining about. I also find the 42mm too short to work with on some rims, especially when using pumps that really clamp down far on the valve. I worked out at the price we paid per tube 90c and the price for one 42mm version €5.61...you would have been paying around 95c for each gram of weight saving...silly how cheap they were when you really think about it!

P.S. On the topic of weight saving...here is an astonishing one for you. I ordered 2 sets of Deda white handlebar tapes here from Ribble. I got one of the standard/plain white and one of the carbon effect white (same price). In my hands, they felt different weights so I did the sad thing and weighed them. To my astonishment, I was right! The standard weighed 40g and the carbon effect was 80g! Wow!!! Thats twice the weight...and one of the easiest places to save weight. Just to make a comparison, I weighed some Ambrosio tapes I had lying around...80g. So if you are looking to save 40g, get some plain deda tapes here for only €5.75. I can think of other places where people spend hundreds to save this weight...here is costs you nothing extra! Good luck ;)
    (I'm sad I know...weighing handlebar tapes! HEHE)
