Smoothie Diet

    Hello,

I want to lose weight. I am a size 14(near 15), weigh 80kg and my height is 5'3 so i am very overweight! I would like to lose 13kg between 6-8 months.
I go to the gym 4-5 days a week, i have a personal trainer as well who i talk to every fortnight. I would like to start a healthy regime where i eat loads of fruits and vegetables, stay away from processed food etc.

I think to clear my system and body mentally i should start a smoothie diet for 3 days. Where i have smoothie for breakfast and dinner and i have a balanced meal for lunch.
Can anyone recommend any site which would tell me what to buy and good healthy recipes?

I have contacted my doctor who says different eating and exercising plans work for different people so i should not give up.

The thing with me is i know my body well, i know what would make me lose weight(loads of exercises and balanced meals) but the thing i lack the most is motivation. When i have a problem, i tend to binge eat(2days at most) and then i feel like i let myself down and i lose motivation.

Also i believe drinking while exercising is not good for you, i normally drink bulmer's light on a night out or bulmer's if there is no light. What other alcoholic drinks can i drink without the calories?

Sorry for the rant but to summarise my post
    1. Does anyone know any healthy smoothie diet website?
    2. What alcohol can i drink which is less in calories?
    3. If i decide to continue the smoothie diet(with one meal-lunch) for more than a week is that good or bad?
    Thank you:)

Does anyone know any healthy smoothie diet website?

No, you can't replace 66% of your meals with smoothies. For a start replace the smoothies with actual food around the same caloric value.

A lot of talk of this kind of thing has come up since the V-Diet has become more popularised. You won't "detox", you'll just end up retaining fat and losing muscle, you need good fats, proteins, and carbs in your diet.

What alcohol can i drink which is less in calories?

If you're willing to give up solid food, you can give up drinking. Do it for four weeks, it won't kill you and you'll notice a big difference. Your body treats alcohol as exactly what it is, a toxin. So if your body is trying to burn fat for fuel and you have a drink, your body must stop burning fat in order to ged rid of the alcohol. If i remember correctly alcohol can stunt your metabolism for up to 3 days. I'll look for the source of that now.

If i decide to continue the smoothie diet(with one meal-lunch) for more than a week is that good or bad?

Look up PSMF diets, and check out the reviews they got. They are not good long term. There's very little protein in a smoothie, so muscle deterioration will be a lot more severe on the smoothie one. Even with the solid lunch, I wouldn't recommend it. A mate of mine did a PSMF for two weeks last year. It was hell, and he had to live off fish oil capsules, fibre pills, flax seeds and protein.

Did you find this diet in Heat/OK/Gossip magazine?

I can do this so np, for a month but it would be harder to stay off the booze permanently:D

No, i don't read any of them magazines, i just thought smoothie is a better food replacement than milkshakes and all those slimfast drinks.
I have battled with my weight in the last 4years i seem to go through good phases and bad phases, i lost over a stone in 2007 from exercising and eating right. But i did that for 6weeks and i didn't notice anything.

Detox is a marketing scam. Eat good healthy food with adequete fibre, micro and macro nutrients, healthy fats, complex carbs etc and drink loads of water.

The women in my family(ma, granny, aunt & cousins) all suffer from constipation/bad bowels and end up taking laxatives/remedies to poop-disgusting i know :(

I tried lin seeds, pumpkin seeds-made me more constipated.

Exercise might help as much as prunes do. I always thought regular exercise helped keep you, well, regular. :)

Fybogel is my little miracle cure for this - my IBS flares up badly when I'm stressed and two or three days of taking this before bed each night helps sort me out brilliantly.

Spot on the money, a bit of porridge in the morning, fantastic, if you fell the urge to get a bit sweet use a small amount of honey.

If you do it for a month it'll be easier in the long run. Have say, two weekends drinking if you have to, then four off. It really does make a big difference

Fibre capsules help a lot, take them myself sometimes if i'm trying to cut weight.
