A favourite of mine too! I haven't eaten them too much though to be honest. When I do buy one, i munch down the whole thing in a matter of minutes though.

Nice, but a touch sickly if you eat a whole one.

Which I've done far too often :o

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,383 ✭✭✭emeraldstar

God I haven't had one in at least 7 years I'd say. Want one now though :(

I've never had the plain chocolate one even though I love dark chocolate, is that as nice?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,980 ✭✭✭Kevster

I can't answer that because i've never had the dark chocolate one! The plain chocolate one is absolutely lovely though, but expensive. I was just at my local Superquin and it was something like €4.50. You can get them for only €2.00 in those discount stores like that '2€uro' shop.

The €2 shop in dun laoghaire has 5 of the bars for €2, proably has way more chocolate. I am off to get them now!

They do loads of bars 5 for €2, and all well within date, and some are bars which are typically a bit more, like terrys orange & toblerone.

you can get 3 of the chocolate oranges in sainsburys for like 5 pound:cool:

    Drool!

I love Terry's Chocolate Orange. The plain chocolate ones are yum, although I wish they were available in bar form anywhere near me!

Actually, I find it hard enough to get the milk chocolate ones (bars) now that I think about it.

I tend to just look out for offers and get the orange shaped ones, which I eat in one sitting. They're even better straight out of the fridge.

I remember when I was 8 and got a terrys chocolate orange egg for easter. Ate the whole egg and the two bars for breakfast and got dragged to church. Got really dizzy in church from eating to much too fast and almost collapsed. My mother dragged me outside where I got sick. It was the best thing ever. I felt great afterwards and because it was the only thing I ate the vomit tasted like terrys chocolate orange. Best vomit ever.

Lol!! Is the egg in the Terry's Easter Egg orange flavoured also, yeah? :P

The box of sweets ftw! The yellow ones with the crushed corn flake pieces are yummy!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 25,005 ✭✭✭✭Toto Wolfcastle

I remember years ago there was a sweet shop on Patrick's Street in Cork and one Easter, as I walked past it, I saw a huge, pumpkin-sized Chocolate Orange in the window. I was convinced that my mother was going to buy it for me. She didn't. :(

Yummy... ...that sounds like it'd be a huge task to munch down, janeybabe, but it being a Terry's Chocolate Orange should make it easier

Yeah it would probably have been the one and only time that I would have shared a Chocolate Orange.

    Greasy and disgusting. Sorry :(

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,048 ✭✭✭dolliemix

I much prefer the orange shaped one to the bar......It's chunkier. I used to dip the segments in my tea so it was melted and yummy. The bits that fell into my tea made my tea taste of chocolate orange :)

Why do they only seem to sell the egg version at Christmas?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 14,144 ✭✭✭✭Cicero

It's Eggciting....only 3+ months to Easter and my annual supply of Terry's Orange...

This is probably a stupid question, but what does the egg version look like? I presume it's an egg shape but I don't recall seeing it before.

It's actually an "orange" shape. The only available type apart from the chocolate bar.

Sorry if I confused you. :o

Terrys Chocolate orange (in the ball shape) are available all year round, not just at Christmas. It's just they've extended the varieties they do (like the mint/white/popping candy) and they're only available at Christmas AFAIK. But you can get the regular ones all year round.

Well then it's just that the local Supervalu and Dunnes only stock them in and around Christmas. I snapped up the last one in Dunnes last week, and they haven't been in Supervalu for three weeks or so.

I think I bought about 10 of those white celebration oranges for the other half in the run up to Xmas and they started selling them in Tesco from mid September.. Strange they stopped only a month after Xmas now!!

Also, does anyone actually remember the Terry's orange EGGS that used to come in a little orange egg box with a little spoon to eat them with?!

Ah yes, I knew I wasn't imaging them!!

THEY WERE AMAZING! Where did they go :(

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 13,429 ✭✭✭✭star-pants

ah ok, I do agree they're far more abundant around Christmas, but just a friend of mine loves them so I've gotten them at other times of the year for her.
Gas back when they had the 'tap and unwrap' ads (We were only teens) - that never worked. She used to throw it at the wall! lol

edit - yup I remember the Egg & spoons, not seen them in a long time

I think they stopped making them along with the actual Terry's Easter Eggs that came with an orange flavour choc egg and a terry's orange..

What jokers.. That was the only egg I ever wanted and now they stop doing them >:(

Nicest easter egg I've had. Aww, it's just so savage.

Ah right. I was confused when you said they're only around at Christmas. I always see them in Dunnes, Super Valu and Tesco.

Got me my mum a Terry's Chocolate Orange cake for me her birthday the other day. Mother of Jesus... drooooooooooooooool... Dark chocolate sponge with chocolate butter-cream icing and orange chocolate shavings and segments of chocolate orange. Quite heavy - ended up giving nearly half to the neighbours, but divine! :)

I saw this in Dunnes stores in Drogheda but to no avail here in Sligo.

    Jealous :(
