Put on a tonne of weight after breakup

    Hi Guys,

As the headline suggests, I put on a LOT of weight after breaking up with the ex, I went through about an eight month drinking binge on cider which I have no doubt piled on the flab, put it this way, I was a 36inch waist when I broke up with her, I'm now a 42inch waist!!!, now in fairness, I've nobody to blame bar meself, but I'm wondering, what would be the best way to drop the flab?

I was back in the gym for a few weeks, but have recently been moved to a new department and am under incredible pressure, especially with the current financial climate and have just bought a house so extra pressure there....

To be honest, I'm tired of blaming external factors on my lazyness, I want to get off my fat arse and get my toned bod back, hell knows how long it's been since a hot girl has looked at me in anything but pity / disgust!

The majority of my blubber is on my belly and ass, and I would like your guidance on how to drop the michelin man image :)

    Thanks in advance
    Al

Give us your normal diet and exercise regime.

At the moment my diet is pretty messed up, I don't get to have breakfast most mornings as I start work at 8am and usually am too busy from that time onwards to have breakfast in work. I've gotten into the habit lately of making proper lunches (rice or pasta with veg, some soup if I remember to buy it and maybe an apple or an orange) Dinner is usually something like baby potatoes with mixed veg and chicken or turkey, it varies.

I don't eat a lot of sweets / chocolate, maybe 1 bar of chocolate every couple of weeks, but I do drink a lot of tea and coffee with 1 spoon of sugar.

Exercise is pretty limited to be honest, I work in an office but usually try to go on a bit of a walk a couple of times a week, I plan to increase this once the house move settles down.

Any tips or advice would be much appreciated.

    Thanks
    Al

I don't get to have breakfast most mornings

That's gonna have a big impact on your day. Go to bed 20 minutes earlier, get up 20 minutes earlier and eat something for sure.

It is very easy to overeat rice & pasta. I eat neither, if you insist on eating them at least switch to wholemeal and get a scales to calculate your portion sizes, most eat WAY more than they thing they do.

If it is bulmers you drink, give it up. Cider is loaded with methanol & other crap due to apple juice being high in pectin. But bulmers is loaded with sugar too. Unsweetened spirits with diet mixers is the the most low calorie way to get tipsy.

I would highly recommend resistance training for losing fat, e.g. wieghts, pressups, pullups etc. And walk or cycle everywhere, not just aimlessly, I prefer to go places, e.g. I cycle to work. It is pissing rain out now, I would not go out for a spin, but if my job depends on it I have to do it!

You should get up early and hit the gym before going to work. That way you can just crash out in the evenings and you will have your workout done and out of the way.
