Saying something about hitting a bird? Hard to believe a bird could cause that.

Has Mary Harney been accounted for?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 7,960 ✭✭✭DarkJager

146 passengers, 5 crew members. Was attempting to return to La Guardia airport after possibly hitting a bird.

Get the violins out. Why do people take every oppurtunity to ramble on about Gaza, even when its completely irrelevant to the thread?

Huge amount of the passangers are on the wings, out of the plane. Hopefully no casualties.

Poor people, I hate flying :(

All because of a bird, you think a plane would win hands down against a bird...

Looking at the pictures, it doesn't seem to look too bad. Well there are survivors anyway, and the plane seems to be floating... for the time being. Hope there are no serious casualties.

There's a still shot on Sky News right now of the jet bobbing in the water with people sitting on either wing.. Extraordinary sight.. Hope everyone's ok..

Incredible that the plane did not break up, wd the crew

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,536 ✭✭✭Mark200

Yeah it seems everyone got out ok fortunately.

There would have been no where else to set the plane down if birds flew into the engines, being surrounded by sky scrapers and all

Serious and shocking subject, but plenty of threads on the issue already, and it will only change this thread into another nit picking farce.

They say birds took this plane down.

Where they Islamic Fundamentalist Birds? I'm sure Sky News will find out by the end of the day.

They should capture all those damn fundamentalist birds and lock them up in a High Security Aviary on an island in the Caribbean...lets say Cuba, the East side of Cuba

    Swan Bin Laden I heard.

In all fairness though, credit to the pilot and crew. Looks like no casualties.

It's a fairly surreal picture. Hopefully the ferries will pick them all up.

Fair fu*ks to the pilot for getting it to the river and down safely.

You'll find that one of the things the pilots did when it crashed was maybe to up the air pressure inside the plane.
This aids keeping the water out from any micro-cracks or fractures in the plane. At the very least it might slow the incoming water down a bit, giving them more time.

I'm hoping all get off ok.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 446 ✭✭phenomenon

Just comes to show you that it doesn't take much to take down a plane...

Jaysus they were lucky! Fair fecks to the pilot! That's an amazing photo.

that would be impressive considering the doors are open

Working in Midtown NY at the moment. Heard all the Emergancy Services about an hour ago, scary stuff. Fair play to the pilot, imagine the damage if this had landed right on top of the city?
