Working today for a funeral of a man i knew very well. Just literally dropped where he was standing age 66.
Personally i don't consider that to be old, yet when i was a teenager i thoughg 40 was ancient!

What is old? Is it how active they are physically or mentally. Hardly a number as i know a 99yr old that would give any 70yr old a run for her money.

When you're old your ears might be hairier than your head and your drug of choice will probably be vitamins :D

So, AH what do you consider to be "old age" and what is your biggest fear about hitting that number. For me, i'd say 80... and the prospect of being the female version of Victor Meldrew scares the hell outta me :o

If i made it to 80 i'd be very happy, even if i made it to 70 i'd be happy.

Age is just a number, means very little. Run everyday and drop dead at 40, smoke 40 a day and live to 80, go figure.

Jesus is old. Looks grand whenever I see him in chruch. Bit hungry mind you, but still. He's like 2000 years old. I think he got this living at home thing with his mammy till he was 30 down to a T!

It's all about your genes, actual age is irrelevant.

People over 60 seem to be more active these days. I'd say maybe 75 is old? I'm turning 30 this year and i certainly wouldnt call myself old or anywhere near it.

I've no hang-ups about getting old at all. You're only as old as the guy/gal you feel!

When you get old you learn the difference between a house and a home.

A house is where you live now.

A home is where they will put you. :D:D

Depends on the size of your family. In a big family you know you're getting old when you start to attend a lot of funerals. Personally I am 25 and have been for many years, since that was about the only time I had any idea of what I was doing.:D

Used to see this as the turning point myself which probably sounds pretty stupid, probably less inclined to think that way now because I am only a couple of years away from it.

Depends on what you want to do. If you still want to chase after teenage or early twenties girls in certain Dublin clubs, then even 25 would be kinda old.

If you're more interested in functioning at work, old may be 75 or so.

I wouldn't say that. I'm pretty sure from experience that age makes you older.

    I would go with 80.
They say life begins at 40 , so I reckon living another 40 years after that would be fine.
I would imagine it would all go downhill after that , health wise and frail bones ect.
Alzheimer's is another reason I wouldn't like to hang around longer than that, because it strips away your personality. ( I know it doesn't just affect Old people )
but I think your chances would be greater as you get older.

Old is when you feel that something that happen 20-25 yrs ago really I mean really felt to you it happend just a few years ago, for me 80s music still kind of feels current to me, My 18 yr old daughter calling me an old fuddy duddy cos I care for her safety a bit more then she would like me to makes me feel like a matured wine..... Thinking god I wish I knew 25 yrs ago what I know now...............I had a conversation in a pub in Osaka when I was 30 in 1987 about how fast time was passing and what fun we were having and being somewhat scared of what the future held for us, that was 22 yrs ago, but to me that conversation is still so vivid in my mind and really feels to me as it had just taken place a very few years ago. Now if I project 22 yrs forward then I will be 74, I really wonder now that this is actually the twilite of my life...i use to go out boozing and spend the end of the evening making pavement pizzas outside the nightclubs, 'twas great fun in those days.....now just stay in watch telly got too much responsibilities...........
I remember a song from the sixties that always sticks in my mind "those were the days" by Mary Hopkins look it up listen to it.and it will make you think

pfft, I intend on staying eternally young through careful application of memory loss. For example, to me, a very few years ago is far from vivid. I have trouble remembering what I was doing this time last year! If you can't remember a long time ago when everything was different, then you clearly aren't old :) problem solved!

ive twice seen real old people getting knocked down..

i never thought a 70 year old man could do a backflip and land in the splits.

I gave him a 4.5 for effort and technique, then called an ambulance.

Old is the kinda age you would say, look at that old woman.

You just become it, its not a number.

But you would miss out on the memories of all those great shags you had when one was young with partners that were of the same generation, cos when you looking at someone 50 plus they do not look half as appealing as they did 25 yrs ago
