I was searching to see if there was already a thread about this show but couldn't see any.

I just got the box set and am hooked on it. Such a quality show. The storylines are brilliant and the characters are so well rounded, I love them all. Especially Sid, the moral compass. Season1 is great, so crazy and funny. Season 2 is really depressing. I'm really looking forward to season 3 with Effy and the new generation!

    Any fans?

Superb show - looking very forward to it coming back.

    Season 1 was absolutely terrific.

Season 2 I didn't like as much but was still very good and as you say terribly depressing.

Hope Season 3 lives up - Effy's a fox anyway so it'll be well worth watching either way :pac:

Series 1 was near perfection, series 2 dipped a bit but was still brilliant.

I hate Effie, so I won't be watching the next series*

Feels weird loving a show where all the characters are younger than me (am I invading on teenagers' territory?) but what the hell, it's brilliant. I regret the inevitable absence of Maxxie in series three, he was quite delicious. How can they possibly make Effie interesting? I hope they give her friends with multi-faceted personalities.

I actually thought Effy was one of the most interesting characters in the show - cerrtainly moreso than, for example, Tony or Anwar....

Yea, I think Effy is brilliant. She's gorgeous, she has a modeling contract with Models 1.
    Photo shoot

I forget that they are supposed to be 16/17 because they are in college. And to me that's like university, not secondary school so I view them as older.

I love the episode "Effy" in season 1 with the day-glo rave and the racing on the forklifts in the warehouse. :D

    Cast photos

They look like obnoxious, knackery mini Effys. Looks like Hollyoaks or something. I think I'm really going to miss the old cast :(

yeah I don't like the look of the new people! will give it a chance though. First series was quality, second not so much, too serious, stupid and unrealistic. Hope this one is more akin to the first

    I freaking love skins.

I agree with what everyones already said though....series 1 ftw.

I don't know how I feel about this new cast. I'm excited about it, but at the same time they made such excelent characters the first time round, that I don;t know if they can beat it.

That last videa clip looked a bit ****. Looks like they've just got a more edgy, violent, eh....sexually active? (whores!!) crowd this season.

1st cast could be that...but they also just looked funny. Idk abotu this.

So far its only redeeming quality is the redhead with the fringe....*drools*

Anyone have any idea when the new series of Skins is repeated? Hopefully at the weekend? I live away from home during the week and the TV doesn't have Sky so I can only watch it when I go home! But I couldn't see it repeated on any of Channel 4's channels?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,459 ✭✭✭T-b0n3

Maybe you could watch it on 4od. Think I watched a good bit of the first season on 4od for free. Not sure about it but could be worth looking into?

    Hhhmm

Not sure its gona be as good as the last two series

But woop woop its back :D

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,649 ✭✭✭Catari Jaguar

New series is absolute garbage. Fart jokes, cock jokes, being cool having spliff, booze and porn, everyone is in love with Effy, slutty teens, "daring" use of bad language for no apparent reason other than to shock.

The cast are extremely irritating teenagers. The adults are all so oblivious and stupid, the kids can outfox them all with their wealth of worldy experience and knowledge. Retarded.

It shouldn't be branded as Skins. It's an insult to the original :(

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 97 ✭✭half pint

I'm hoping that it might improve into the series when they've finished introducing us to the new charachters

First series was very good. Second series, not very good. Haven't watched the new episode yet, was watching Lost, but will watch it tomorrow. Doesn't look too hopeful, by the comments here. :(

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,632 ✭✭✭SligoBrewer

It was different. I dunno what to make of it really, but I did enjoy it.

The teaser thing at the end indicates some series 1esque material.:)

I actually liked it, start of it was abit off but towards the end got good, hopefully it will improve

Wasn't too bad at all. Nice little cameo from Ardal O Hanlon.

By the way who is Max Preece? The episode was dedicated to him.

    im not really too sure.

the way i described the orginal skins to my boyfriend a little while ago was that it came across like it was someones baby.
like the creator had it planned out for a long time and had everythng well thought out, as was evident from the chatacters and their development.

the second season seemed a bit rushed, but at least they had somethng to build on.

im not too sure about this new series. the nervous breakdown teacher is just irritating...seriously, i miss angie...what a whore!

the blonde dude....the one that shagged effy in the end is such a chris-a-like, but the difference is chris was a lovable ass. this guy isnt.

in fairness i did find a few laugh worthy moments, but i think we're going to just have to wait and see. its not nearly as good.

although im glad pandora is in it...she makes ma laugh.

and emily is just ****ing sexxxxy

I really liked it. Obviously people are going to be skeptical with the new cast and everything, but I think it works. Effy was underused in series 1 and 2, so nice to see her taking the lead. JJ is quite an interesting addition to the cast and I can see the twin thing going places. wink. wink. nudge. nudge.
Overall, a good start to what's bound to be a good series. So they're not the characters we're used to, but Sid, Tony & co. are gone, so we may as well embrace the newbies.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 58 ✭✭haven27

Didn't see that dedication at the end but googled it. Turns out he was friends with one of the creators daughter and was a runner on series one. He fell off a roof and died. Facebook group dedicated to him is here: http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=46379200037&ref=nf

Wow I feel middle aged after that episode. Those kids are my sister's age... Ugh. I don't think I'll bother next week it was a bit puerile for me

Better than I expected. New characters OK but I'll need more time to like them seeing as how I'm still nostalgic for the last series. Effy makes a good michelle substitute and the new Chris wannabe is OK but not great. Ardal O'Hanlon had limited lines but made me laugh every time

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 158 ✭✭Its So Easy

So there was more than just Effy returning from the last two series ? Harry enfield retured and effys friend was in the last series. And was one of the teachers in the last series at some point ? Nice to see Ardal O'Hanlon in something other than Fr. Ted.

I think this series will suffer for a bit as people grew attached to the old characters, and might take time to forget the old ones.

BTW fair fecking play to anwar(cant remember his real name) from the last series to be in an oscar nominated film.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,747 ✭✭✭MikeHoncho

Big improvement on the garbage pile that was Season 2.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,602 ✭✭✭✭Liam O

Yeah don't really like Effy's friend, very annoying. The twins look ok characters. The 'doormat' one I think is better looking than the one who's boyfriend 'plays for Bristol Rovers reserves'. No real substitute for Sid who was one of the stronger characters in the last series and the Chris substitute just doesn't seem to have enough issues to be an interesting character in the long run

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,259 ✭✭✭Rowley Birkin QC

Thought it was pretty "meh" to be honest. Characters seem to be photocopied from the last season.

Ardal O' Hanlons character seems interesting but his accent was horribly forced.

yeah I miss the previous cast too, I don't really care that they're gone though cos it was going downhill anyway. I don't think it'll ever be as good as series 1 but new series doesn't seem too bad. I like effy and her friend, is that that pandora one from the last series? the shy twin seems cool. but that little skanger lad is a bit annoying and ugly

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,159 ✭✭✭✭phasers

Really disappointed, thought is was absolute rubbish. Probably just me comparing it to series one, but the fart jokes and Ardal O'Hanlon's 'to be sure to be sure' Nordie accent? I'll pass thanks. Also, The Chris rip off is really unlikeable and the twins are very annoying, if you want to be different quiet one just get a new haircut or something!

I'll give it another chance though, I may just need time to adjust.

Have to agree. Seems like they've dropped their target audience to 12/13 year olds

On a high note, Effy and the lesian twin are
