I have read the posts in gym review first but none answer my query

Looking for the following in a gym and this is for the long haul - not some 3 month wonder!
Staff who can give advice when you need it and know their stuff
free weights (standard selection not hard core body building heavy just enough to do a full muscle workout for muscle gain
    cardio machines
nice clean pool and steam room (impossible to find - posters have said crunch fitness have nice pool but the weights section is tiny and the staff not friendly
punch bags would be nice but not common - why is this?
good range of classes with good staff (preferably ex athletes)
Also would like flexible joining options.

LA Fitness is nearest, is it the best Gym in the Ranelagh/Rathgar area
Very few recent comments on Boards about La Fitness. I wonder if this is because there are no compaints about it?:D

You've described the perfect gym. I don't think it exists. :(
