Front Squat Problems

    Hey, last couple of weeks having a bit of trouble with my front squats.

    Im seeming to loose the bar on the way back up, as in rolling away from me and as a result im falling forwards. Happnd the odd time before but not on every seccond rep like it is now.

    Im doing same weight as a month ago when it was ok.

    Only other thing im noticing is that im feeling a bit mroe stress on my lower back than on a back sqaut.
    Other possibilty is that ive been under the weather the last couple of weeks, but none of my other lifts seem to have been affected.

    Any ideas?

    Are your elbows dropping down when you go back up? Is your weight on your heels or the ball of your feet? Is the bar cradled comfortably on your shoulders? Also is your back well arched?

    What the lads mentioned, I also found it extremely helpful when racking the bar to inhale keep my chest big as possible , elbows up and really tighten my core before descending. Then on the way back up try and keep your breath in only exhale if you have to at the sticking point.
    lso I found it helpful to look straight ahead all the time not down or up.

    Not to be rude spiral but if you are going to exhale on the way up the sticking point would probably be the worst place to do it; the chances of your core losing its rigidity would be very high, putting a hell of a lot of pressure/weight onto your spine, which can cause all sorts of problems. Maybe what you are saying isn't how I read it but I would be very wary of that idea. just my opinion, I'm by no means a good squatter.

    Shouldn't be exhaling during the rep you'll lose tightness, brian on the money.

    If your losing the bar you need to push your elbows up as you descend and keep trying to push them up during the whole lift. This will also help with tightness

    I dont usually exhale but I have found on occasion that maybe because I have taken too large a breath to begin with and the weight is challenging me that I will involuntarily exhale slightly around the sticking point on the way up.
    I am only exhaling slightly not enough to lose any rigidity in my core. But perhaps it is because I am taking too large a breath to begin with.
