Have Roma Beggars gone on holidays?

Just noticed there that there's been no Roma beggars on the streets of Dublin the past week, not outside the parking metres, not outside the ATM's, not outside the train stations, have they all gone on holidays with their cash to Monaco or wherever they go? They were perfectly able to beg in the cold of December so I can only presume they are on some kind of an organised holiday that they take once a year and it's not the cold spell that has them gone?

I think they have just realised more so that more of us could be in the same situ soon and is telling their family/friends that its not all its once was craked up to be here.

As far as I am aware, the guards are becoming very, very strict on begging. I've seen two Irish men picked up and told to leave the ATM machine (one in Temple Bar, one near Stephen's Green) and not to be caught begging again in the last couple of days.

Wife says they have moved and changed tactics. They apparently have started begging from others on the Luas, etc. Somewhere you'd not see the Gardi. They have swarmed people in gangs now it seems from what she witnessed firsthand.

Maybe my approach was adopted by everyone else and worked (I always reckoned if everyone else didnt just ignore them but became verbally threatening and abusive like I did whenever they approached me, maybe they would finally **** off)


Maybe, like everyone else, they have had the flu the past while? Hell Ive barely left my house since 2009 came in, and given they spent most of their day outside and usually live in crowded conditions it is a very likely reason.

I hope those cnuts are gone for good......not racist but have to say that I hate the Roma gypsies with all my heart. They have made their own name as being disgusting and vile, really not worthy to exist. Just to make everyone aware, my comments on roma gypsies has absolutely nothing to do with Romanians. I have noticed on boards.ie and in the general public too, that there is sometimes a confusion between Romanians and roma gypsies. They are two totally different groups of people, totally unconnected....just wanted to get that across in case people thought I was being against Romanians

Money doesnt come out unless you take your card and that takes approx 5-10 seconds after you press the amount.
You wouldnt have to be particularly quick.

They've smartened themselves up a bit and are now pretending to collect for the irish wheelchair association.One of them came up to me yesterday in o'connell st brandishing a photocopied page of lines and grunted at me to buy one for two euro...i asked to see thier ID and she pretended she couldnt understand and walked away.
