You beat me to it by seconds!

It will be interesting to see if the 17" MBP really did get a new battery...

Chat room is up and running anyway.

I know a Mini update is pretty much guaranteed at this stage but I'm hoping it will deliver the goods: waaaay better GFX hopefully, max RAM to 4GB, 802.11n and HDMI... I'll be happy then. Anything else will be simply gravy :).

Hope it's not as much of a dud as the last Keynote.

This iPhone Nano rumour is hilarious.

I'd love to see an iTablet at this. Sigh!, I can dream.

This will also be the last Apple Macworld keynote. Too bad Steve won't be doing it. :(

Whatcha mean by "the last Apple Macworld keynote" SP? How will they be announcing new products / innovations in the future?

Shame Steve isn't doing it alright.. but with his failing health, you can't blame the guy.

Apple is dropping out of Macworld - from now on, they will do special presentations/product launches via "town hall" events mostly in Cupertino (or other locations) kinda like the recent (September) iPod event. At least that was the official line...

  • Moderators, Category Moderators, Arts Moderators, Entertainment Moderators, Technology & Internet Moderators Posts: 22,698 CMod ✭✭✭✭Sad Professor

Yeah lately they've been moving away from expensive trade shows and towards smaller media events that they can call whenever they want. A lot of tech companies are doing the same. The recession probably has a lot to do with it. But it's also been suggested that a rift has developed between Apple and IDG who host the show. Last I heard they said they were still planning to go ahead with Macworld next year with or without Apple.

New Mac Mini shipping immediately will be enough for me!

    Crashed again?

    Yup, its back up though.

We need to find an alternative solution

E: I can only find one website which is like stinto - but its not working.

The stinto chat is still up but it seems the server will crap out every so often but it comes back on eventually, just stay in the channel.

    Maybe boards IRC?

    3 hours? Bloody hell.

Keynote won't finish until around 6.30pm, so I guess we'll have to pick up discussion tonight.

Oh and it looks like iWork '09 is on the way.

I just turned on my computer to be met by boards maintenance announcements!

That is terrible..... I mean, they should have consulted the Mods of every forum to make sure nothing was going on anywhere. Ah well...... life goes on anyway.

So where will we discuss all that needs to be discussed??

@Elessar- Will the chat hold up for a while so we can chat while boards is down???

Scheduled maintenance? Tonight? Whose idea of a joke is that!?! :)

Damn it.... now there's a greater chance of going to the Apple store and spending more money before I can be talked out of it by others here not quite blinded by the new shiny toys :). Though I'm really going to try to go the Belfast route this time (if anything promising does get released that is)...

Any new feature to any software is going to be bloat to someone.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,850 ✭✭✭condra

It's more of the old "trust us, even though you never thought about it, you need this".

To me it reeks of more facebook/googlemaps etc stuff. I've just recently deleted my bebo account and it feels great to be free.

Personally, if I take a photograph, I dont want it geotagged, and likewise, if someone has a photo of me on facebook, I dont want a computer to automatically "recognise" me.

If it gets in your way when you don't want to use it, then it's bloat... Otherwise, it's a feature...

Faces seems pretty handy but places seems a bit pointless seeing as most events are all in one location anyway :S

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,534 ✭✭✭Dman001

New Product Number 2 is iMovie.

New Product Number 3 is probably iLife? What about the iMac and Mac Mini?

iLife includes iphoto and imovie. Only counts as one thing I'd say.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,595 ✭✭✭✭Dont be at yourself

iMovie and iPhoto are part of iLife. We're still on part one!

macrumours stream seems to be getting hacked

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,743 ✭✭✭bluemachaveli

    First : iLife 09

    Second : iWork 09

    Third : New Mac Mini?

    Fairly weak so far!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,850 ✭✭✭condra

    lol

.."and last but not least, we've fixed a bug in iDVD, thanks for coming, happy New Year"

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,534 ✭✭✭Dman001

Maybe but when I read this on Engadget:

"I hope you're as excited about this as I am." Well... "That's just the first of all the new products... we have a new version of iMovie."

Typo or Phil is confusing himself. iMovie has to be part of iLife's first thing!
