Most Annoying Poster of 2008

Following up from the thread of the year I said why not try this.
Lets be civil about it though please.
Ok I will even accept if I was on here myself more often I might even be considered a candidate but the person I wish to nominate I cant even actually remember the name of???
    Please advice though!!
He(or she) keeps rambling on about the amount of games they go to and was having a go at Waterford and Limerick fans that were protesting against their game being played in Thurles last season. The whole 'I travel 400 miles a week to see games' sort of I am the greatest supporter of the GAA on the universe blah blah blah
Mods if this is a bit of a dodgy thread to start fair enough but hopefully people can be mature enough and have a laugh at this.

Ah you are thinking of Flukey Tom.:D:D

I don't see anything wrong with a thread like this unless it gets really stupid.

Speaking of Flukey,he braved the cold weather and exposed himself to the elements with no shelter with an ear infection to go to Naomh Barrog and watch Dublin v Dublin Blue Stars on New Years Day.Paradoxically,he turned down the chance to go to Tullamore on a milder day yesterday when I drove down and we were adequately sheltered due to said ear infection.:D:D:D

    Eh....moving on :P

That guy/girl posting in the Waterford/Kilkenny AI Final topic who went on about how Waterford hadn't a hope in hell in winning the match. Obviously he turned out right but the way he/she went on about it, ("just wait tilll you see next week, I'll be right, you'll be wrong") that kinda thing did nothing for me.

Flukey's alright tbh. The moment I heard he was a deisefan I forgot all about his previous misgivings :D

I banned somebody a few months ago when the International Rules was being played. He insisted we already had an onternational possibility with the teams from the North representing the UK. I'll find his name later.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,908 ✭✭✭Daysha

Does applehunter post here? If so, he can move to the top of the list. I posted in a thread on the soccer board explaining how the reason I don't attend league of ireland games anymore is because of my following of the hurling team, and he goes and posts this
Waterford's support in hurling is sh1te as well.

    Bunch of moaning glass blowers.

At least the soccer team has some history of some sort of success.

Not that youd know it in that kip.

Waterford.....forever in the shadow of Cork.

    :rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:

I think Chessplayer wins due to complete ignorance of the rules, history, culture and playing of the GAA.

However "That chap from Kerry" annoyed me big time in the AOM/subutamol thread. Even when almost every post was sympathetic to AOM he still insisted it was all a set up to trap Kerry players etc. etc.

Yes, Mullet is a nice guy, and happens to be a very good friend of Pope Benny 16, hence that nomination. :)

As for me exposing myself GAAman, over on the Astronomy forum, another one I post on, someone has posted "I've managed to wow the neighbours a few times by saying look over there and then a flash" :), so I am not the worst. My ear is still giving me trouble, but I will be in Parnell Park on Sunday and I hope plenty of others from here will. Of course my ear problem could be down to it burning from all that is being posted about me in here of late. Deise59, I think we need to get another lovefest thread going. :)

TomthePost, I have never claimed to travel over 400 miles a week to see matches. Having said that, I did fly thousands of miles to Malawi in 2007 and saw and played in GAA matches there. :p To be fair though, it does get annoying people coming in here complaining about having to travel to see their team play. What do they expect: to look out their bedroom window and see them playing in their back garden? Without fail, every year we get a load of what I call "Travel Moan" threads. It is when faced with them that I have said that I travel to lots of games and don't worry about the cost, and there are plenty here like me.

The other context I mention that I go to lots of matches is when we get the "Dubs only ever go to a few matches a year" or "Dubs only ever go to Croke Park and never travel to see their team play", accusations that are frequently thrown about when it is seen that a particular poster is from Dublin. Like Travel Moan threads, the typical 31 county stereotypes of Dublin fans is a common occurrence. I only respond to put them right and defend myself and other posters.

Ironically the Travel Moan, anti-Dub and other negative posters that appear every summer are nowhere to be seen now, while there are a good lot of Dublin fans here, many in this thread alone, as well as the rest of you real GAA fans. If you look at the list of posters in this thread and most of the others on the forum at present, it is nearly all the regular posters that are here all year round, not just a few months in the summer. We are all the type that go to a lot of matches all year round, and travel to them, and don't moan about it. The travel moaners probably are sitting at home now, and won't move until the summer and then will start moaning about the few games that they go to. Many of the "Dubs never go to matches" folk are probably also sitting at home and won't budge until the summer. They won't be seen at a match or in this forum until then. I just put up my defense and by extension it actually covers a lot of the other posters here, Dublin posters in some cases, and all the rest of you, you too TomthePost, in other cases. When inevitably we get the anti-Dublin and Travel Moan posts again this year, I'm afraid I'll have to wheel out my standard response in the defence of myself and the of others. Everyone here has standard responses for empty and stereotypical accusations that get thrown at us. We'll all be dusting them down for use during the summer. They are rarely needed at this time of the year, because it is real fans and posters that know each other's credentials as fans and posters that are posting now.

Flukey the hurling thread was having a go at the incompetence of the GAA scheduling the game in Thurles where neither manager, players or supporters wanted to go.
You used it as a launch pad for how good you are travelling to GAA games. Irrelevant and off the point.
No offence but I and I think I speak on behalf of others when I say I couldn't give a fiddlers about your trip to Malawi.
Even as a kid I can remember plenty of Dublin GAA jerseys around Tralee during Feb and March when the Dubs were down for league games so I certainly have never suggested that Dublin fans only show up at Croke Park.
