Thought Id relay this story to all the AH regulars as it shook me up a fair bit.

I was out last Saturday night in our local late bar.I was feeling pretty rough and the place was jammers so said I'd leave early and rest up as I hate being sick and further boozing would lead to me coming down with some silly cold or whatnot. Anyway, as Im leaving I come across a guy I know from work, he's crouched down holding his stomach. Apparently someones smacked him in his man parts, he is also completely hammered drunk, slurring his words etc. I offer to take him to the taxi rank and get him home. He agrees reluctantly and we head over the road.

As Im crossing the road I see these two girls I know locally. They are known idiots and always causing trouble. They start heckling me for going home early and start calling my workmate over as he is pretty good friends with their group. We have to walk by them to get to the taxi rank anyway. They start sating shít like to my workmate about me "why are you going anywhere with him, sure no one likes him anyway" and "he's a dickhead, stay here with us and we'll head back inside". I get pretty angry and tell them that he is hammered and needs to go home. They get all mouthy again. Arguments about whether he should stay or go go on for about 10mins. I get sick of it at this stage and am pretty angry "fine, you take care of him, Im heading on. Silly bitches". I walk over towards the taxis. I could hear them asking my workmate why is he crouching over etc.

As Im about to cross the road, I get an almighty smack on my back and fall onto the road. My workmate on top of me screaming angrily "you punched me in the sack", holding his fist back and looking pretty confused. Im pretty shocked myself so nothing really comes to mind, but I say that "I didnt and why does he think that?". He says the two girls told him. I can hear them laughing now and pointing over but Im still pretty out of it. The two of them run over, pull my workmate off me and grab my arm. I go to get up but they start dragging me along the road on my back. They stop after about 10metres and run off. Im obviously still pretty bolloxed so in no shape to get up, and even if I was, I dont think I could have really done anything anyway.

I get a hand up by a stranger shortly after they run away. My back scrathed up pretty bad, my shirt destroyed and Ive a cut just above my left eye from when my workmate bashed me onto the floor. Other than that Im fine, I found the whole experience pretty shocking though.

Thats insane. Hope you're alright now. I don't think there's ever any justification to hit someone, you're just sinking to their level but if i had been in this situation i think i would have been hard pressed not to. Fair play to you op. The girls are complete knackers for behaviour like this, you wouldn't want the same rep as how you view them would you?

I'd definitely be expecting an apology from your colleague for what happened that night. Maybe take a photo of what he did to you in case he 'doesn't remember'.

I guess I should point out, that it wasnt my workmate that dragged me along the ground. He was semi comatose on the road, it was the two girls. Ones quite big, not over weight but she's an intercounty footballer as far as I know.

I dont really think my workmate can be blamed too much for this though? We've all had those nights where we've had one too many and end up doing silly things.

Your workmate drank too much and got into a bit of trouble, you decided to take care of him and bring him home. Minutes later he's laying into you. Yeah i think your workmate owes you an apology.

The girls have more to answer for alright but as you said they're troublemaking knackers-stay clear.

Tbh op if this had happened to me and i knew the girls who had done it i would be reporting them for assault.

Something might come of it or nothing might but a gardai caution might show these knackers that this behaviour isn't on.

well didn't have one, drank a bottle of wine over dinner, but woke up fine, then decided ok my Mam has my son tonight, babysitting, and my DH has MAN flu.....brought him to doc....its just chest infection....so I might as well drink at home as no son....and DH in bed....and I had no NYE so feeling sorry for myself

If hitting a girl can be avoided it should be. But giving them a good push/shove when they are assaulting you would do the trick. If doesn't work then a guy has every right to hit her a slap, not a punch, unless she's got a knife or gun:p. Open handed slap across the chops is as far as I'd go if she refused to stop.

When I was doing security in nightclubs we'd always get girls hitting their fellas, or should I say attacking, before we can get there to throw her out he would give her a push/shove to get her away, she would look at us to say "did you see that? throw him out", told her to gtf and touch him again and you're out.
