Seeing as sterling is nearly 1 to 1 has anyone spotted really good bargains to be got in the UK

I think this is a good bargain

I know there's no mileage quoted on it and its probably high mileage but its also probably moterway miles which isn't as bad

anyway...the VRT on it is e4578 (stat code 42186343) (which will be less in the new year) and you could probably barter another few bob off the asking price so I reckon you'd have this for around 12k...:)

cracking price, considering i remember seeing a 320 es with similar spec but with less mileage go through a uk auction for about 10k.

Id say considering the price it might be a cat d so as always buyer beware.

Real deals are on the big engined models in every range. The English are now almost as allergic to them as we are.

Great post OP.

I've seen some great deals on cargiant & autoquake myself, the VRT is really a pain in the hole isn't it. I saw a 2006 Hyundai Coupe 2.0 for £4999 and VRT was €5800, more than the cost of the car. Same applied to a lot of the cars, I know its the same for all but it's such a rob as the OMSP's are ridiculous.

Why is nobody posting links with the likes of Auto Trader?
Safer to go via cargiant etc? Because I can't find anyhting in my price range with them (IE up to 4k GBP!!).. So much value to be had at the moment, if only my own would sell!

Focus's are the best yoke to bring in imo.110bhp 1.6 tdci only gives out 127g emmisions and decent ones are plentiful over there.Its no hard task to get a 06 one with average milage for under 7500e inc vrt.

Is 100k alot in a modern Focus diesel thats been looked after? loads of 05 ones on autotrader that can be had for 3500e and 1700e vrt.

Actually fantastic value alright if you live in the UK and dont mind the lower spec and lower grade engine on the V6s. RRP on a new 2008 V6TDI was £32-34k IRC.
VRT due of €24k is woefully inaccurate though. On the tax, thats the cars fault for being so dirty!

RRP on the base (although I'd hardly call it low!) spec was £43k, with promotions reducing this to £37k! 23k is stunning value - has to be up there as the best pound for pound car in the UK at the moment. I am seriously interested in taken advantage of this situtation ( im usually a tight git lol ) been driving around a bangered up 1.3 Corolla for years now, anyway say I buy a 06 Hyundai which have a 5 year unlimited miles warranty from new or Kia Ceed which has a 7 year/160,000km, does it cover me here?

i bought a car 2 years ago in the UK and i emailed warrantydirect.com (or someone like that) and they said they'd still cover te car even if i brought it over here (to ireland)...could be something worth considering if you were buying private... get 6 months cover off them. sure thats all that a garage would give you anyway.
