loads. probably close enough to 20. most of them were second hand - some only had a few minutes or hours on them and the little plastic cover still on the screen. i used to just buy them and try them out for a while then sell on

8 in total in 10 years.

    2 i lost.
1 i lost, bought another and then found the lost one.

others have just become broken or just felt like a change.
Ive always sold the previous ones. broken ones for parts and working ones.

    2

The one I have now is about 5 years old. The battery in it is fecked at this stage.

Edit: actually I think it's 4 year old, not 5.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,082 ✭✭✭Fringe

About 5. I've had my Nokia 6230 for about 3 years now though. I really should change...

Got my third, a Nokia 5310, for Christmas this year.

I had my first phone for about 3 years and had my second one for 4 years.

    4 in ten years.

Buying my 5th in the new year. Camera is broken on current one and i miss it :(

    6 since 2001.

Last one I had died on Debs night when it fell in the toilet as I was puking my ring. Nice.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 530 ✭✭✭Placid_Casual

4 I think. First and current one were bought new. The other two I inherited from my sister when she bought new ones.
I've never really been one for keeping very up to date with these things. As long as it makes and receives calls/texts and doesn't look horribly outdated then i'm not too bothered.

Only on my second :) . Its basic and does the job, only replaced my old phone as i kept pressing the wrong feckin button to answer it!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 20,009 ✭✭✭✭Run_to_da_hills

An average of one a year since 1995. made several insurance claims in between but ended up getting the same phone again. First phone was an NEC P100.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,031 ✭✭✭✭Zebra3

    8 in about 14 years-4 diff nos.

First was on 088 network. :pac:

Had a couple that got broke, one lost, one nicked.

Never look to upgrade unless phone is banjaxed.

Far too many, probably 10-15. Lost count the number of times I ended up switching back to the trusty old Nokia 6310i.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,778 ✭✭✭✭Kold

About 6 in 10 years. A poll would make this less of a postcount+1 thread... Still miss my sony with the recordable ringtones.

    +1 (oh yeah.)

    Careful now.
you do know that the phone comnpanies are monitoring your calls and reporting them back to the super government (read: unelected elite), don't you?

I can't remember but it's probably more than 10. Even more than that if you count the number of phones, i've borrowed off friends or family to see me over for a few week until I repaired/replaced the previous one.

I also intend replacing my current phone when it reaches the ripe old age of 12mths. Should be around February, hopefully just in time for the release of the nokia xpress 5800.

    :)

At least 12 over the last 10 years including 3 in one week. All Nokia except my 3rd one[motorola], then went straight back to Nokia. Mishaps include dropping one down a toilet, dropping another into a pint of cider, had one robbed by a barman, left a couple in taxis and smashed another off the wall after losing a $3k hand playing online poker.

Just one that I have owned, used one that wasn't mine for a while. I've had my phone seven years or so since the day it was released.

think i'll stay with sony ericsson from now on. doubt i'll go back to nokia again.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,031 ✭✭✭✭ShaneU

I had an old ericsson brick phone, can't remember the name
    Then I had a nokia 3310 (who didn't?)
    Then a motorola v3x
and now a nokia 6500 classic

nokia's are the best, namely the oldschool/classic designs... Sure it falls to pieces, but you put it back together within 5 seconds and its like brand new ( minus the scratches ) !!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,982 ✭✭✭Caliden

Just gone onto number 5 after my last one (a lovely w810i was stolen, I loved that phone :(:)

Not a big fan of my current one, mainly because I had my last one for over a year and a half and was used to the shortcuts

Oh and still have the exact same number for the last 8 years

Mine is fantastic. Suvived the rollercoaster, me throwing it at walls and a roof, number falling into puddles. It used to be that when it fell ina puddle it went off. Now it stays on! Adapting.

Had 10 in the past year (I work for SE :)). Before that countless amounts.

I've had a mobile for the past 10 years, so I've lost count at this stage.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,032 ✭✭✭homerun_homer

I've had 4 this year. 1st was a hand me down I had been using for years. I hate phones and never wanted to buy one and ended up having to because the battery was fcuked.
Bought a Sony Ericsson K800i, went to Barcelona and it got robbed late at night from my pocket. Had no insurance so had to buy another, was asked if I wanted to take out insurance and I thought "feic it, I'll not bother".
Got overly drunk one night in Berlin in June and broke it, vague memories of throwing it away. Woke up with just the battery and front screen, not even the Sim card. Felt like such a tool.
So now I've bought a new one yet again. I tried not to, was gonna get a cheaper Nokia but O2 had such a crap selection at the time I caved. So that's over€600 on bleedin phones this year.
